Greetings, all:

What does it mean when you're getting two distinct groups on the target (one high, one center) when using the same ammo and point of aim?

I had this happen last night in casual slow fire practice at 25 yards. In each string, one group would be centered on the X ring, and the other would be centered on the 7 ring at 12 o'clock. I did this with both the .45 and the .22, so I'm pretty sure it's a "Ron problem" rather than a gun or ammo problem.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks, and Semper Fi.

Sounds like a follow-through problem--possibly relaxing your grip too soon after the shot breaks (or you think the shot breaks), causing the gun to flip up a bit more during recoil before the bullet leaves the barrel.

Definitely happens with me and my revolvers, anyways. If I see this happening, I would stop live-fire and start dry-firing, and watch what the sights do. Once I get it to where the sights stay more-or-less where I had them when the trigger breaks, then I'd load up and continue shooting, taking care to hold the gun on-target all the way through the trigger squeeze until I hear the shot and feel the recoil (once those happen, the bullet is already well on its way downrange).

"Breaking wrist up", opposite of limp wristing. You are anticipating the recoil and contributing to it, so to speak.

My problem was a lack of consistant grip from mag to mag. Tended to be more consistant with rapid fire than slow fire. Never was that great with either the 41 or the Victor - but varied from low/mid 90s to mid /high 80s

Hopefully this pic will upload OK. It uses a target to illustrate what your problem may be based on where you are grouping. This is for a right handed shooter.

Thanks! I've been racking my brain try figure out what I've been doing wrong with my 681. I was convinced it was a sight picture problem, but now I'm thinking it is a grip or amount of trigger finger problem (I've been gouping at about 8 o'clock).
