Just bought a brand new M&P AR and took it to the range and ran 150rnds down range without a hiccup and it was spot on at 100yds after making a few adjustments with the iron sights. After taking it apart to clean I noticed that the grease mark pattern on the bolt wear was only half the width of the hammer and noticed a small burr on the top of the hammer. Question is should I leave it alone or take it off and if so what grit sandpaper should I use? Thanks in advance for any help- ken

The preferred tool to remove the burr is a small, flat stone, such as is used for sharpening a pocket knife. Just a few strokes to remove the burr and not change the hammer nose profile.

If you do not have a small stone, you can use 600 grit wet-or-dry abrasive paper backed with a flat file or strip of metal.

Or, since you said the gun functions properly, just leave it alone and the "problem" will take care of itself shortly.

Thanks guys for the help. So if it aint broke dont mess with it. Ill just keep an eye on it and see if it works itself out.
