Have any of you had experience with a Burris Red Dot Sight on a S&W 629-6, 44 mag? Will it stand up to the heavy recoil of the 44 mag loads? I'm 71 years old and can no longer focus on iron sights and the target at the same time. I would like to try the red dot sight but know the shock of the recoil will test any sight other than iron.
Thanks

I have slide mounted one on a 1911 10mm race gun used for bowling pins. Have about 2000 really hot rounds through the gun since the sight was mounted. No issues at all.

BTW I have 4 of these sights on different handguns and rifles (45 1911 for pins, an M1 carbine and a 45 camp carbine). Never had an issue with any of them.

Go ahead and grab ya one. I have 4 on different 29s/629s and one on a Thompson Center 44 mag. Never a hiccup. My eyes won't let me use the iron sights when accuracy counts trying to take down steel critters out to 200 meters.
This one on my 629-4 PowerPort has seen thousands of rounds and all I've done is change the battery.

The mount is made by one of our own, revolver ph of Raptor Engineering.

If your FF3 ever breaks, they will fix it or replace it. Even if you accidentally drop the gun on concrete and break the sight, they will take care of you. I had mine on my .45 Range Officer for 5,000 rounds and one day noticed a series of cracks at the bottom of the glass. No idea how it happened. I emailed them, sent it in, and had a brand new sight a week later. I was so impressed I bought another new one and put it in my 686+.

I should mention that mine also uses a Raptor Engineering mount. A very well made piece.
