First and foremost, if this thread is in the wrong spot or shouldn't exist at all please let me know and I will attempt to delete it or ask a honcho to.
OK
My buddy found this on a key chain at the flea market.
It was drilled for the loop and has no primer. The head stamp is REM on top(12 o'clock) and 45 on the bottom(6 o'clock)
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

I do not recognize it. Nor do I know what the “REM” headstamp could be. Not what Remington used. You might post your question on the IAA forum. Those guys there know everything related to ammunition of all kinds, and it is by far the most likely source for a correct answer. You do not need to be a paying member to ask questions on the forum, just like here.

Not sure what the round is supposed to be, but it's a keychain the TSA will confiscate if you try to fly. They're keeping us safe, dontcha know...

Oh yes. I had a rather uncomfortable encounter with the TSA a few years back over a small pocket knife I forgot was in the bottom of my backpack....and I hear they were also considering P-38 can openers as weapons for some time.

Many of those early "key chain" cartridges, especially during the Viet Nam war era when they became popular, were made specifically for that purpose and only superficially resemble real cartridges. I suspect that is what this is.

The .45 headstamp obviously does not agree with the measured diameter of the bullet!
