A friend gave me this box with the old style package (box) Just curious as to approximately how old it is. Not a big deal, Ballpark idea of year.

Thanks.

I hate to date myself but.............it happens a lot these days!

OK, my oldest son and I used to buy those rounds for our 357Mag revolvers. He was born in 1978 and I bought my M586 6" the year he turned 10. So, about 1988 ish that would make them 21 or so. Old enough to drink? Hopefully they won't though! ;)

They are a handful from smaller firearms, I can tell you that!

That's three boxes ago. Green and White, brite Yellow , dull Yellow.

Open the box on both ends there are white tabs on both ends the year used to be printed on one of the white tabs.

Hope this helps, this box was used up till around 2001.

Use to buy those at the local Walmart around 1992 for about $13 a box, they were a handfull out of a 66-1 2-1/2" barrel.

Got my curiousity aroused.

I have a box exactly like that. Shells are in a plastic tray, one end flap says pkg C0406-90-4 and U-5C. End flap has J 21B A5510 on it. Other end says made from recycled recyclable fibers. Bottom has barcode of 0 47700 16900 2 and undeneath that is L357M12.

I got them at a local pawn shop for about $9.00 as I remember. HTH

Good Luck,

Remington and UMC merged somewhere around 1911. In the 1930s, DuPont bought a 60% interest in Remington. DuPont sold that majority share around 1992. Most ammunition made during the DuPont era has their logo on it. Ammunition has been made in Lonoke since 1969.

The 4 boxes of UMC I have all have a circle on the white end flap with "95" or "97" in the center with a light strike on the numbers (1-12) making the outside edge of the circle. That circle may only be the date of the box design, but it may also be the production date. ;)

Yes, it has that circle (looks like a clock face) with 96 in the center.

Heck maybe I'll save them for 10 more years and sell them on GB for Millions!:D

Thanks for all the replies, I'll light some off this week in my 686 (no dash no lock, no recall fix) see how they go.
