I was told this board was the place to go for information on this pistol. All that I can tell that its an old top break S&W. Maybe .32 rimfire? It looks as though it is nickle plated. I have not handled this pistol personally so thats all I can tell from the photo. A lady my GF knows wants to sell it.

Welcome to the Forum. The top-break guns were chambered in .32 S & W, a centerfire round. More details, please - barrel length from muzzle to cylinder face, any stampings, the SN (feel free to leave out a few digits, like 123xxx), exposed or concealed hammer.

Better still, with all this if you are able to post the photo that would be helpful - click on Post Reply under the white message area, then Manage Attachments; a new window will open and you can link to photos on your computer or a web site.

Ghostman, that link seems to be problematic. I couldn't see it on GT, either. Could you add it as an attachment?

This is strange as I see the pics here and on GT. Lets see if this one works

I can see the pics very good. This is a second model 32 Safety Hammerless.
It dates from about 1902 to 1909.
The serial numbers run from 91418 till about 170000.
I cant give you a price. Becouse the price in Europe is different than in the States.

Hope this will help

Nice safety hammerless! (aka "new departure" or "lemonsqueezer"). They were made in 32 S&W and 38 S&W (not 38 S&W "special" like most modern revolvers) from about 1887 to about 1940. What is the condition of the barrel? Yours has some finish wear, but doesn't appear rusted or refinished. Nice grips, they are often fractured! I have one in 38 S&W that was okayed to shoot by a gunsmith, and is fun to shoot occasionally. Others here know lots more and can tell you more if you provide the caliber and at least partial serial number.

From the cylinder size, definitely a .32 Safety Hammerless. It seems to have what is usually called "honest wear" from carrying and use. The serial number will give us a good idea of when it shipped from the factory.

It is probably a $200-250 gun, but more photos (of both sides) and a description of the internals (bore/chamber/mechanical condition) would help here.

I am going to have my GF get it from her and bring it home. I will take pics with a better camera and give as good of a description as I can. Thank you everyone.
