I have a 629 RSR Magnum Hunter edition. I am lucky to have a few Smiths, this one is my favorite. I know a similar gun was made in 45 Colt, I am wondering if this style revolver was ever offered in 357 Magnum?

Thanks all, stay safe.

RSR Light Hunter

I too have a few Smiths. This RSR Group Inc. Shooting
Sports Distributor S&W Revolver is one of my favorites.

I'm no Expert on them, but I believe they came in
357Rem Mag as said above. I know they came in
41Rem Mag and 45Colt.

I'm always on the look out for the RSRs.

Thank you for the Subject and Picture.

Here's mine. Very Comfortable to shoot, very nice Trigger
and very Accurate. It is Heavy though.

Circa '95 S&W Model 629-4 Performance Center Revolver,
Light Hunter, Swing Out Unfluted Cylinder Hand Ejector, 44
Remington Magnum Cartridge, 6 Shot. Stainless Steel made,
Frame type "N" Round Butt Grip Frame, Slab-sided 6" Ported
Barrel with Integral Picatinny Rail, Adjustable RearSight/Bright
Red Front Sight, S&W Rubber Finger Groove Grips.

686-4 Light Magnum Hunter. 7 round. A member/collector has informed me that Roy Jinks put the production number at 240. It came in an aluminum PC case..sorry no label to share. The grips are reshaped Ahrends

There is a .41 Mag. version as well...PC 657 Light Magnum Hunter, product code 170062. This was available at a gun show a few years back, but passed on it since I don't shoot .41 Mag.. I remember him saying that he'd take $1350 for it.
:( It would have made a great trade piece...danged hindsight.

An eight shot 627 with a 7 1/2 inch barrel would have been a great shooter. I don't think they made one though. I have only seen one 686, and that was at the the Collector's Symposium last year.

No expert here but the SCSW 3rd edition list a model 686 Hunter edition from the Performance Shop that looks similar.

This exactly what I am looking for. Might need to post a WTB but won't hold my breath.

A nice looking 7.5" 44 Magnum went last night on GB for $1260. I thought it would go higher, and I almost bid, but I like my 6" plenty. I have seen the 41 before; I would like to own the 357.

I have a 627-2 Hunter in 357 magnum, but can't figure out how to post a photo!

I always like to refer to the 627 as the Heavy Hunter, It is a massivly heavy slab of steel with that small .357 hole going through it

627HH.jpg

There was also a heavier barreled 6" Model 627 made for Export, It was a true slabside with no relief cuts. It is from the Competitor like of foreign revolvers

Two Model 627 revolvers were made in eight shot version using the heavy hunter barrel style pictured above, but longer. I think they were 8"

One of the two is owned by a fellow Forum Member, perhaps he will pop in and post a photo for us

When it comes to the Model 625 chambered in 45 Long Colt, there was both a Lite Hunter and a Hunter

I like serial numbers, so when I learned that the 625 Hunters chambered in 45 Long Colt were going to be serial numbered CLTxxxx, I had CLT0045 set aside for mine :D

Here's my 8 shot Lew Horton 627. It's 357 mag, adjustable weights go in the shroud. I'm pretty sure only 325 or so were made.
Soon to be for sale!
