I joined a week or so ago because many with a lot of smarts when it comes to firearms (including Ditrina) said to join.

But I am disappointed.

1) My e-mail inbox is now getting flooded with junk e-mail

2) NRA is against universal background checks, and when I called they said that 92% of membership was against. This is bogus, the survey question that got 92% against read: "Do you favor banning private sales?" A proper question would have read: "Are you for or against universal background checks?"

3) The free knife was made in China

You can stop the e-mails, just log on to the Web site. The question was fine because Universal Background checks would stop private sales. So the knife is made is China, it was free!

Others have told you how to deal with the email. I have an even simpler solution. Delete it. I do. No problem.

You will probably get snail mail too. Throw it in the trash if you don't want to read it. Again. No problem. If it really bugs you, you can opt out of it at the same site listed above.

The cheap knife was made in China? Where did you expect a cheap knife to come from? So was the hat they give me, but now I just tell them to keep it and give it to the next kid what walks up to the booth at the gun show.

Why did you give them your email address? They sell American made knives in their catalog. Thanks for reminding me I have to reup in a couple of months.

As already posted, it's an easy process.

I'm a long time member and I get hardly anything through the usps, but I like to here what's going on so emails don't bother me.

I handle my support with a monthly auto payment done through a credit card. I know I'm doing my part putting my money where my heart is and I literally never have to lift a finger.

This can be setup at the NRA website too. I regularly donate to only a few organizations, the NRA and USA Shooting Team are two at the top.

Deal with the email as said above. If you don't like the knife toss it. The NRA is THE 900lb gorilla fighting gun control. If you are a firearm enthusiast you owe it to yourself to be a member.
If background checks lead to registration I am against it to. You don't think the Govt. would let all that information on who bought what, when and where go to waste do you?
Boo-hoo spam. Oh the humanity!

My email has a way to block unwanted email's. A few months ago I got flooded with emails unwanted from every where so I blocked them now it's under control. Don

Welcome to the NRA. They will spend $50/ year in snailmails and server time asking you for more $. They will also take extremely hard lined approach's to everything that doesn't seem to matter to the average gun owner while letting the low hanging legislative fruit go unpicked. Unfortunately, it's the only game in town.
p.s. I'm a life member who supports background checks. I strongly believe we must support them until there is something better.

Is this tread home to a troll? Complaining about spam, a cheap knife, and not being able to think into questions? What a joke

If you look at his post count you can see he isn't a troll...he is just asking some questions...and who here hasn't complained about all our goods being made in China? Cut him a little slack...he did join and we all are happy he did.

Why would anyone support background checks? I live within the law, pay my taxes and should not have to go to the government to ask " Mother may I?" It is an infringement on my rights and criminals don't give a darn about background checks. This would do nothing to keep weapons out their hands.

And I suppose you are going to tell me that requiring driver licenses doesn't make the roads safe. Oh, wait....;)

Thanks for joining the NRA. They are indeed a powerful voice for our interests in firearms and the 2A.
Personally, I'd rather they keep the propaganda giveaways and utilize the money for the cause. But some folks like getting the little free incentives to motivate them to join. (sad)
So at least they are buying inexpensive knives etc (China), keeping the spend down. Just my humble opinion.

Driving is a privilege not a right. My family has fought in every war since the American Revolution and I don't think they did it for me just to surrender my constitutional rights. How many have died for you not to "ask mother may I?"

Driving is a privilege not a right. "

If driving is a privilege (if you ask the state it is) do the Amish have to get a drivers license to drive their horse drawn vehicles on the public road? Do they have to pass a test to do so? How many people are driving in this country without a drivers license? A privilege granted by a benevolent state, bah humbug!

I do not support universal background checks. If I have a doubt about a sale I go through an LGS. Most of my private sales are to friends anyway.

I don't support nor do many of the people I know the current "universal background check" legislation. I do support fixing the current broken one and I'm rather surprised that is sucks as bad as it does. But then again, it is Government run so I don't know why I expect anything more.
