Nice gun! I'm not a revolver fan, but I would have jumped on that one.
The picture of the S&W is a modified target competition 38 sp. mostly used for practical police pistol competition ( PPC ) in the 70's and 80's.
In California, Bill Davis ( CHP ) made modification to S&W mod. 10's, 14's and 15's for PPC competition. The bull barrels in the 70's were round and evolved into the flat sided modifications.
California had over 8,000 Law Enforcement members who competed in PPC competition in the 1970's.
