I have seen several post here that have discouraged others from buying the Turkish pistol, and have had one on back order at my LGS for quite some time
it finally arrived this week and I made my first range trip this afternoon with it.
I like the gun!, using Russian silver bear 115 grain ammo ( shooting it from a bench, @15 yards onto a 12" shoot and see paper target) holding at 6 o'clock on the orange the first 6 rounds out of it were touching into one ragged hole, it impacted right at point of aim .
so the next 12 were shot off hand at a semi rapid pace from a setting position, at the same range and all impacted in the orange.
It out shot both a ruger American and a Glock 17l for group size from the bench with both my self and my son shooting it.
trigger was great
I have read a lot of statements about the decocker on this weapon and I for one found no reason not to like it, it function properly and only required a short 1/2" slide movement, if that much, to reactivate the striker.
so I will feel better knowing it is loaded with one in the pipe and a full mag and that it will have a dead trigger until activated while laying in the drawer by my bed
I have no ideal how long it will last but my thoughts are, that it will be as durable as the other polymer pistols I have seen, the ruger is by far the beefier of the three guns with a heavier barrels and stouter trigger assembly group, the Glock 17 is world renown for its durability and the 17L is a 6 inch gun with a 3 lb. trigger
all three guns ran flawlessly and at the end I was shooting spent 12 gauge shotgun shells at varying distance 5-20 yards with the canik and having no trouble keeping the empty shells hopping.
so I am for one impressed with the pistol
canik TP9SA cost $330, Ruger American $450, Glock 17l $750 and up
if you are on a budget the canik will not leave you under gunned and if the decocker is a big issue with you they are making the same gun without the decocker as a TP9SF model.
just an old gun nut that likes guns that shoot where you point them
