Cannon or anti-aircraft gun as display

There was a tv show I think it was "Family Guns" They are in NJ & PA & sell lots of stuff like that . You should google them, I bet they have what you want

I got interested so I looked them up . They are" International Military Antiques" They have some neat stuff do you have $30,000 to spend?

IMA Lots of great stuff. Done business with them before

Our 155mm howitzers is top of the line bigger bang than the German 88mm. It's can shoot 30 miles with 55 drum accuracy. You hear it maybe but it's coming special delivery to your mail box so grab your soxs...you know the rest.

She can shoot nukes, lay mine fields, take out mine fields, shoot laser guided rockets, she can ruin any bad guys morning breakfast.

I built machines to manufacture these parts and assembled the barrel sleeves, brakes, hydraulics, recoil shocks, brake assemblies. She top of the line, the most bang on two wheels for our tax payers dollar. The giant recoil shocks are filled with 200psi of nitrogen.

Ima is too expensive. Ill see if I can find one of the dealers I know of who have Artillery.

IMPORTANT, how much are you willing to spend? I know a guy who also has a Jap "knee mortar" for sale.

Haven't been there in a few years but there was a flea maket just out of Bastrop, Texas on Highway 71 that had a 75mm pack howitzer for sale for several years. Don't know if they still do or how much. The Boss Lady said that was too much gun for me.:(

Guess I just keep my eyes and ears open.

I want American stuff in my yard, nothing else. Of course, some British and/or German influence are okay...

Since I'm looking for a non-firing item it's obvious that I'm not willing to spend much...

I can remember when a lot of Soviet/Eastern Bloc stuff was being sold to civilians as well as flights in the Mig 25 Foxbat mach 3 interceptor (about $10k all in trip IIRC) - seems they were selling pretty much anything bar WMD. Could be a good place to look.

Ah, didn't see the American only desire...though I still think it'd be worth a look and not being too rigid.

A PBR on blocks in the yard would make a nice guest room.....

I've seen some pretty realistic cannons built entirely out of wood, when your driving by at 25mph and the cannon is sitting back 50feet you can get away with murder. Even the carriage on a decent 1/2 scale civil war howitzer will set you back thousands or many hours of work to obtain. Someone builds them to fire juice cans filled with concrete, they are scary accurate. I think that same cannon will also fire a 4lb cast lead ball with amazing results...the one I saw fired kept drilling the center of a target at 200yds. The golf ball mortars are fairly inexpensive and probably the best 'bang for the buck" if you just want to get into firing a cannon, there is also the thunder mug. When it comes to something large enough to use as yard art your going to be digging into deep pockets, I think even the smallest reproduction mountain howitzer mounted on wheels will set you back 20 grand.

I know someone with a 90mm M1 AAA gun in his front yard. It was one of the ones that the US Government donated to all the communities in New Mexico in memory of the 200 AAA Regiment (which had M 1928, 3 inch AAA guns). I think this was one of the extras, and he snagged it.

Did you know the German 500 pound bombs are used today the the bunker buster bomb. This has different levels of clusters of these 500 pound bombs. Each level goes through about 25' of cement if I remember correctly. I guess the Germans were spot on with there design that we copied.

OP, if you get one of those 40mm Bofors? I have a complete 1943 shell to go with it. Also has the Navy Anchor on it. I also have a shell casing to a British 24 pounder. I think its dated 41 or 42 and was used in the desert--most likely against Rommels guys..

One of the members Cannonman on the gbo site was selling cut down 40mm barrels. If you are handy with a lathe you could make up a scaled down copy of the whitworth cannon. I may be wrong but I seem to remember him selling these barrels for around $500. The insides are still having the grease to protect from rust. And the whitworth was a British design used in the civil war. Frank
