Friends car was broken into over the 4th while he was enjoying a Fireworks display and concert afterwards with his family. His wasn't the only one as they went down a line of cars in a parking lot ..

Ended up with a broken window in the door of his Jeep Wrangler Hardtop .. good news didn't get the pistol that was in the vehicle! They found the Tuffy compartment under the passenger seat but weren't able to pry it open. Pried the console box open and ruined the top of it, which was also locked, open it and took a few self made cd's, and his daughters phone the reason it was locked.

The Tuffy box, Tuffy JK Conceal Carry Passenger's Side Security Drawer had pry marks around the front and looked like they hit it with something but the 16 gage steel held up nicely .. The tubular key is almost impossible to pick or pry open. LEO said he was lucky he had had it installed or his pistol would be in the hands of a gang right now! He said 4 or 5 of the officers came over and looked at the box and commented they wished everyone would install something along that line to secure their weapons when leaving them in a vehicle, and not just in the console which can be pried open with a screwdriver !

We both had these put in our Jeeps mine first and his when he got it .. Its big enough to put 2 pistols maybe 3 with extra clips. I lined mine with some foam to keep anything from sliding around and to cushion what ever I put in it so it wouldn't vibrate to make noise .. Just dabbed a little glue a couple of places on the bottom of the foam to hold it in place. Its 17"L x 6 1/2"W (chamfered corner) x 3 5/16"H (chamfered corner)

I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a secure compartment to store your fire arm when unable to carry into a area and forced to leave it in the car/truck/van . So much better secured then just your vehicles console or glove box which Illinois law says is legal to use.

That looks huge!!

It fits easily under the seat. If doing something like going to the beach you could put your weapon and billfold personnel belongings ect in there with little trouble ..

Doesn't protrude from the front or back of the seat .. Tuffy has other security boxes of differing sizes too for other vehicles other then Jeep's.

I would have told the LEO that you wished that you were allowed to carry the gun whereever you went including public gatherings so there wasn't any chance it could be stolen from your vehicle in the 1st place.

It was a friend's so not sure what was said exactly.

But why would you antagonize a LEO who had nothing to do with writing the law ? And had no chance of changing the law. Now saying that to your elected representative would be appropriate !

Voting is the only thing that will do that ! Make your voice heard ! Vote!!

EXACTLY!!

You should not have to lock your pistol in a car to begin with---that is nonsense.

(of course, the courts, jails and airports secure areas exist so-----a good way to secure something is a good idea).

What I do really wish however---that breaking and entering carried such a high punishment (death) that a whole lot less of it would occur. Let's have harder penalties for real criminal activity and not so much for all the rest.

It would be nice to turn all the prisons into apartments or shopping centers (C Block, 30% off ammo sale).
