CAR PROBLEM

One of my more interesting car "issues" was just a couple years ago, with my badly rusted 2006 GMC PU. I was tooling down a state forest road when I felt a bump that didn't seem right. Looked in my rear view mirror, and noted my spare tire rolling down the road behind me.

The spare tire mount had just let go, and was still attached to the wheel, mount, cable, and all. Threw the spare in the bed, and kept going, figured what the heck, the frame crossmembers / shock mounts, and the rear bumper were gone from rust anyway, so no big deal....

When my nephew was a teenager, working nights at a fast food joint, he had to close one night and was driving home late on the Parkway, half asleep I'm guessing.

He's driving the family minivan and runs over a mattress in the road! I'm sure that woke him up, but not enough to realize he was dragging it under the van. That is until it caught on fire. He got to the side of the road and out of the van in time, but it was a total loss by then. The family's only vehicle at the time.

He grew up enough to fly Blackhawk helicopters in the Army. Still is as far as I know.
