I put a bird feeder in my backyard around March. I see cardinals on it all the time, I thought it was just the 2, but saw a big blue bird stop by for some food, and 2 male cardinals and one female just ran it off.

I Googled cardinals and found they usually don't hang out with other cardinals pairs and are territorial of their area.

I might have some 1960's hippy commune type cardinals. I'd set my camera up to get pics of them, but don't want to do anything to spook them.

The idiots still haven't found the bird jacuzzi I put out for them. Thought about moving it closer to the feeder, but it would be in direct sunlight most of the day.

My old house was near my woods. The place was heavily populated with Cardinals and I put peanuts and bird seed on my front porch so I could watch them from my front window. I often saw the male and female pairs and watched the males feeding their mates that they knew from all the other females. Sometimes over twenty Cardinals on my porch at the same time.

We have Cardinals all year in the desert.
While pretty, they are probably the dumbest birds that pass through our yard.

I put Cardinal Feed from Tractor Supply in one of our feeders. They love it and it attracts a lot of them. It's a little more expensive than regular feed but it keeps them coming around all day to feed.

Here some pics of birds on my old feeders, had 4 spread out so very little fighting.

When they need water they will go to the bird bath ...
it just takes a little time for them to learn stuff ...
bird brains ...
The Cardenals like Sunflower Seed .
I find two small feeders , placed a few feet apart , works better than one feeder ... Less food fighting goes on .

The Cardinals and Blue Jay's have been constant residents at our house of 51 years ... Baton Rouge , Louisiana !
Still Feeding the them ...
