Carolyn McCarthy readying gun control bill-for tomorrow

I think you guys are missing a pretty huge point. this nut was stopped by brave souls that risked their lives for others. UNARMED souls I might ad. never mind the armed guy who arrived later.fact is even though one with a gun may have put him down just after the congresswoman was shot and possibly saved the lives of the other 5 he was stopped nontheless by unarmed heros in my book. bravery is of course lost on those cowards in congress who want to use this as an opportunity to pass some legislation to limit so called threats to themselves as well as obtain added personal protection so they are not placed in dangerous situations on the rare occasions they meet with the taxpapayers. cowardice has no place in leadership. it just shows the contempt they have for us all. there are others who would willingly lead and accept the risks, just as many of us have served in the armed forces. why do we allow these to represent us?

C. McCarthy

Thanks for the link to the Speaker. I'd already sent an email to my Rep. Can't send any useful emails to my 2 Senators, they'll likely be co-sponsors on the new AWB.

The only papers in her file cabinet I'd bet, are gun regulations. Really since she was elected has she introduced anything but gun regulations?

This lady, who's sole purpose in life seems to be to introduce anti-gun bills, put her 10-round limit bill on the floor today......let's hope this BS gets shot down quickly. I wish this McCarthy battle axe would just dry up and go away.......I'm tired of her crying over the "horrible tragedy" she suffered, our US servicemen are coming home in boxes every day fighting for our freedom while this hag cries about something that happened back in the 90's......maybe if her husband had been able to legally carry a gun he'd be alive today.

I think the second word in your post is far too kind, Stan. She's just a nasty bitch. Don

She got elected on the sole platform of banning guns and doing everything she can to undermine the 2nd Amendment....we are all tired of her whining.

Some people, not all, but some, are waking up to the fact that if you let the GOOD people carry guns, it evens the playing field against the BAD people. It pleases me, that a few formerly "non gun" people at my job are applying for CC permits and want to seek out some kind of training in how to use the handgun properly. These are not "range commandos" they are just working class people who realize that "small town America" is becoming as dangerous as anywhere else, and want to protect themselves and their families. If it took a tragedy to wake them up, then maybe some shred of good can come out of this senseless killing in AZ. Violence can erupt anywhere, and they are finally seeing the theory of "an armed society is a polite society".

Nancy will let Ms. McCarthy have her day in the sun but knows all too well what gun control bills do to Democrats come election time.

Congresswoman McCarthy is from New York. Her job is safe for as long and as often as she wants to run. Those in New York keep voting in those that are against guns and common sense. They always have and always will.

Look at the voting records of New York. It is just as liberal now as it was in the 60's. The honest, conservative people living there must enjoy their politics because they never move away and get mad when one mentions they should move. I grew up with a guy that went on to be a lawyer. He moved to Albany, NY as a mid age conservative. We hunted together and we both collected guns. He relocated and is now as liberal and anti gun as they come after only 20 yrs there.

So, let me ask you a few questions. I assume you're not a big Obama fan, correct?
Then according to your logic, when things don't go our way politically, we should give up and leave for greener pastures, correct?
So what are you still doing here in the United States? Isn't it time for you and Alec Baldwin to leave? After all, running away is your solution, isn't it? Just curious.

Oh, and by the way. Congratulations on the election of Cedric Richmond. Since I'm fairly certain you didn't vote for him, I guess you'll be moving. Good luck with that. Really!

Things might change quicker in restrictive States if people stayed. Not an apples to apples comparison but look at Cuba. I think the Castro regime would have fallen a decade or more ago if the US had NOT let refugees come here and send money home. Maybe those of us if Free States should be sending foreign aid to fellow shooters on the other side of the curtain. Or at least encourage them to slip across the border occasionally for a shooting match or gun show.

NY State is almost as bad as NJ with their gun laws........I know, I lived in NJ for the first 25 years of my life, then spent 3 years at Ft. Drum, so I know the stupid laws of both states. Hell I almost got arrested in NY State for carrying a knife longer than 3". Thank God I live in PA now:)

I did not vote for Obama and he did not carry this state. In all likelyhood, he is a one term President and if not, he gets four more years. Big deal. There will be a better President in the future. The US does not continually vote for people not in their best interests.

And I never ran from anything.

Now as to Cedric Richmond. Never heard of him before but found who he is. He is a small time Democrat in a very small area of New Orleans. Yet that one district continues to elect that type politician. That district is also almost 100% Democrat and the few conservatives ARE moving out. Richmond has virtually no say for anything out outside his district.

Let's all move to the State with the highest murder rate in the US. LOUISIANA. Overall, they're #2 in crime behind Nevada. Yea, load up the moving van.

Wut state has the number one murder rate ? kgb answers

What is the number one murder state in the USA? | ChaCha Answers

Using liberal media, you are likely right. Using actual facts, including the headlines of the local papers, totally incorrect. Louisiana has had a continous downturn in crime for tthe last five years. Our murder rate is below that of Washington DC. Our gun ownership per captia is one of the highest in the US.

Those causing the murder rate are in the Democratic portion of the state which is a small area that is fully loaded with those on welfare, food stamps and if you remove the crime rate in those areas from the state stats, you will find that the crime rate and murder rate in LA is way below the majority of the states. A few years ago we had a hurricane hit the state named Katrina. Many in the Democratic area was hit hard and had to be relocated to other states. The crime rate went up in every area that got evacuees. Houston, TX was offering to pay them to move back to LA. The people tore up everything they were furnished. Yet we are talking about less than 5% of the people in the state. We are also talking about the voters in this state keep it pretty much Republican. The current governor is being talked about as the next nominee for President.

When we have had an anti gun leader in the state, they did not last long. Anti gun legislation in the state has not advanced in this state since 1935. We have open carry, concealed carry, no gun registration and many more good gun laws. We have a few bad gun laws as well but we change a few each year. The one law I want changed is the one getting rid of the background check.

There is no need to move. Good job, breat pay, excellent weather, good laws, gun friendly. low cost of living. No reason to move.

what the gun control crowd can't seem to understand is that we are not talking about a political difference. this also applies to the 1st amendment and the rest of the b of r and constitution. civil discourse on these topics is non-negotiable, period. a govt that seeks civility while stripping the rights of the citizenry is a govt of fools.

and don't worry about Texas, nobody's leaving this state.

Statistics are what they are, Louisiana No 1 in murders, many years running, end of story. Cherry pick all you like.

Liberal media? Look it up yourself

Crime and murder going down? Like the rest of the US

Here's some "liberal" FBI figures for ya, you been No 1 since 1996 at least.

Wash DC? That's a real high bar to compare to.

Jindal has as much of a chance as Palin, none...and I really like Palin

You paint all NYer's with the same brush however when it comes to La you want to remove certain portions to lower your stats. Well, if we removed NYC from the rest of NY State there wouldn't be any problems here. But since you know nothing of this State, keep assuming.

Ladder,

I have been to NY State many times on work or education. I have been there to attend classes for as long as four weeks at time. I have spoken to residents and business people there. I made good friends with a middle age couple that owns a B&B there during one of my courses. Most of these were NOT gun owners, those that were said they would leave the state if they had employment elsewhere or retired.

Louisiana does have problems as does any other state. If we ever meet or talk on the phone, I can explain the reasons for our problems. I know the state well and have spoken before the State Senate and State House on occasions. Yet with Sen Landrieu in office (her last term) we stand no chance of getting the problems solved. She buys votes and wants the problems to remain and now her brother is mayor of the troubled area and making it worse.

Yet if the laws of the state are ever contrary to my liking, I am not going to hesitate to move. After October, if I am still living, I may move out of the state any way. We have good gun laws that could be better.

Also, I do not like Jindal and cannot figure why he is considered a rising star in the party.

You lost me there. I've lived in Lousiana.

Excellent food, yes. Excellent weather? Not so much.

Ok, why is it not?

I can use the motorhome for camping 52 weeks a year.
I can use the boat 52 weeks a year.

I do not have to shovel snow but get to see a dusting or light snow each year.

I get to hunt four months a year without having to layer clothes.

From about May 1st to October 1st, the pools are busy.

I may wear a heavy coat six days a year.

Once you get accustomed to the summer heat and humidity, it is quite pleasant. Right now we are overrun with people from Canada seeking relief from their winters and from those up north getting away from the icey roads.

Last week we got temps in the mid 20s and a quarter inch of snow. It shut down the area. Schools closed, offices closed, hospitals went to only required staffing only, non essential personnel at the City were off work. Just 75 miles north of LA that would have a regular day.
