I recently purchased a dream gun of mine. The 65-5 LS, and now I have a problem. She cost me a pretty penny and has never been fired. I SO WANT TO TRY HER OUT. what do you think fellas? Have a pair of S&W combat grips on the way. She is gonna dress up GORGEOUSLY.

I bought one LNIB. Carried it to the range, made a holster for it and carry it occasionally. Just recently put some smooth round butt targets on it.

I told you what I did with mine. I have some nice guns but I don't consider any of them safe queens.
What you do with your's is really up to you. What did you buy it for?

Life is too short, and seldom fair. I've seen a boat load of people die, and not one of them ever said "I sure am glad I didn't ..."; instead, if the time and circumstances allowed, they expressed sadness and longing, as in " I wish I had...". Therefore, try not to have too many regrets. With rare exceptions, we don't know when our last day on this earth will be. I've wanted a nice, affordable Model 65 Ladysmith for quite a while. I can't complain, I've got a nice Model 64-3, and Model 13-3. and a Model 65-3. I bought the Model 13 and have never fired it. I don't think it was fired since she left the factory. Shortly after I bought her, I found the Model 65 and Mrs. Double-O bought it for me for Christmas. I thought about selling the Model 13, and then realized, hey, I like it, and I'm worth it. I still haven't shot her, but man, do I get pleasure just holding and looking at her.

The difference in price between fired and unfired, as long as you take care of the piece is minimal. Personally, I think you should take her out and shoot her, and then find a nice holster and start carrying her. If you haven't figured it out, or if nobody has told you, YOU are worth it, and you should enjoy it.

Regards,

Dave

l bought a LNIB Model 12-2 a year or so ago. It became my everyday carry gun. Now it's got some holster wear, the grips have a rub mark on them, and it's been fired. I'm sure it's not worth what I paid for it. Big deal. It wasn't going to finance my retirement anyway.

Same thing goes for my/my wife's 65-5 Ladysmith. If it wasn't unfired, I couldn't tell that it had been. She shoots it all the time.

I used to fret about such things. My wife pointed out to me that if I didn't shoot it, when I'm dead my kids are going to...or they're going to sell it to someone else who will. She said "You might as well be the one." Made sense to me.

65LS

A few years ago I bought a like new 65LS. I had bought it to wear around the house when I was doing chores outside, mowing, trimming trees, whatever. I was going to wear it IWB, so that it wouldn't get too banged up, but quickly discovered that IWB was not comfortable for me when doing chores.

To solve that problem I got a regular, beat-up 65 3" to wear in a belt holster. I buffed the new 65, gave it a trigger job, and it does a real good job of just being my yard gun.

The 65LS is still here, and I do carry it occasionally, but I have
kept it back to keep it nice looking. If I didn't have the 3" 65, and a 3" 66 I would carry it regularly though. You just can't beat a 3" stainless K frame for everyday carry.

Best Wishes,
Tom

I never buy a gun that I won't shoot. I do take very good care of all of them my M57 Mountain Gun looks new and I shoot the heck out of it. Just clean them and keep em oiled up and they will look good for a long time.

whewwww!!!! MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY...THANKS GUYS

I thought " Maybe Im wrong about this". Turns out, we all may be wrong....I will let you know how she feels... thanks

I would shoot it. That is what it was made for. Im pretty sure when you pass away the next person to get their hands on it will shoot it....

When my kids get my guns after I croak they will say the old man shot these guns a lot but took care of them.

Send it to me.
I will fire it and send it back.*
Then you can fire it with a clear conscience.
Dilemma solved. :D

*I will, I promise.
Eventually.

the shooters will say shoot and carry it, the collectors will say safe queen.

i say it's your gun bought with your money, i think it's only fair that you decide what you want to do with it. ;)
