Anyone ever sell, outright, a car to them? Is their appraisal legit, do you get what they quote you?

I was offered a great price to sell one of my cars without purchasing theirs, way more $$$'s than I thought.

Bait and switch maybe, just to get my interest? I don't need to sell it, but at the offered price, will.

Well, I dunno either, Ladder, but, what's to lose? Tell 'em you'll accept the offered price, and if they try to reduce it, tell 'em to walk.

Did they actually view and inspect your car? I suspect once they do, they'll start devaluing everything.

I purchased my current car from Carvana and traded-in my old one. They did not adjust the deal at all from what I was quoted online. It was a good experience for me.

VROOM on the other hand was difficult to deal with and I ended up returning the vehicle - if you do VROOM, make sure you ask them if the mini-spare and the car jack are included.

About a year ago I tried selling my deceased B-I-Ls car at Car Max. Got a ridiculous low offer from them. Sold it on Craigslist the next day for triple the Car Max offer.

Have not heard anything about Carvana's purchase offers. I can't imagine them being overly generous.

Used car market is supposedly very hot right now. Check out 'for sale' listings for your model vehicle and see how they compare. Private sales have worked best for me. Good luck.

CarMax is a joke. My wife was looking at an Audi Q5 that they had in FL. No problem "we do runs up and down the coast".
OK, no money down needed to look. The car looked great on the website. We ask to confirm with the folks in FL that the car has no cigarette smell, rips in the seat, etc

Salesman says we prep all our cars in house, and the people in FL say it's mint.

Couple of days later the salesman calls to inform us the car is in. Back we go to look. He opens the car and we look inside.

Seats are stained with what looked like skid marks, the cup holders contained some sticky substance, soda spill?

Prepped by no one, the car was turned in and put on the lot. We looked at a few others, though not interested in them, same thing. Dirty rugs, cigarette burns, general uncleanliness.

I am taking the car there tomorrow though just to compare with Carvana

The car won't be traded because it's replacement will take about 6-12 months to get and a bird in the hand.

I hate tire kickers and dreamers. That goes for guns buyers too.
If the offer holds, they can have it. I looked at comp sales, I could maybe get a grand or two more but not worth the hassle to me.

The comps have me thinking they won't give me what they offered but as Onomea said why not see.

A little less than 6 years ago I sold my wife's '07 jeep to carmax and they gave me exactly what I wanted. I'd say less than an hour. Easy.

A lot depends on what you're selling. SUVs and such are hot right now. Sedans? Not so much. (lower gas prices are the biggest factor I see.)

Edit to add, The offer took less than 20 minutes. The rest of the time was clerical. I had a soda and watched Jerry Springer.

I bought my '04 GMC 1500 from CM. I found it on the web ant thought it would be nice. It was up in Jax. and cost me to have it sent down to Ft. Lauderdale but the money would be credited to the purchase price if I bought it. It looked good and the web said is had 34000 on it. They said it was silver.

The truck showed up at the local CM and I went to see it. Son of a !!! It's that GM Champagne color that I thought it was from the pictures.

It checked out great and I'm still driving it with 80K on it now.

I knew what I wanted in both deals. You know what you're willing to do.

We buy any car dot com has the most annoying commercials BTW. For that alone I cant recommend.

Just like the ads and signs you see on the roads, "we buy any house". Yeah, I buy em too for $100.

I've looked at some of Carvana's prices and they seemed even higher than Car Max which is a bit high. We got a stupid low offer for my wife's car from Car Max and easily got twice that much selling it on Craigslist for cash.

Try it out, read any print especially the fine print, don't acknowledge anything!

When I was young and more dumb I purchased a car before I sold my old one. I didn't wanted to trade because their offer was insulting. But I wanted their car, so I went on to find a buyer.

Long story short, I found a buyer online and we talked about everything and set a price. He had a guy come via train and asked me to pick him up. I did and once we got home he talked me down about $800 because my car was in such horrible conditions, which it was not.

I took the offer and he drove it back because I needed it gone. Wouldn't ever do it again, I tell you that!

So try it and see where it takes you. But be prepared to shut the door if you have to!

That ten story high vending machine has to cost a lot of money and they need to add that into the price of every car. You would think a small used car dealer with a gravel parking lot would have a whole lot less overhead to include into the price of their cars and would negotiate a price downward a lot faster.

I got a very good offer from them on my 2017 Accord, well above dealer trade in. I'm close to trading with them on a newer Accord. Their asking prices are close to what I've found elsewhere. I prefer to inspect their car so I may have to travel.

Car is gone, Carvana came and picked it up just now. The easiest car sale in my life, all done electronically except for the pickup.

Miles, the driver, handed me a check before even inspecting the car for mileage or condition.

In addition they paid me 25% more than the next closest buyer, and honestly more than I hoped for. No hassle with tire kickers and BS artists.

I highly recommend them for a sale. Color me impressed.
