Our 18 year old cat, Leo, was put to sleep today. He always had epilepsy and in the past two weeks even medicine did not prevent attacks any more.

He helped raise our two sons. He will be dearly missed.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Our dogs and cats are truly members of our families, and are sadly missed on their passing.

We had to have our senior cat, Sylvester, put to sleep recently, and I went with him to the vets and held him as he went to sleep. Cried like a baby. We had had him 15 years.

Here he is at 14:

My wife and I are celebrating our 52nd wedding anniversary today. Over the course of these 52 years we've had 3 cats who lived to 15,17 and a few months shy of 20. After putting the last one to sleep we decided not to get another although it would probably outlive us. There were some of the saddest days of our lives and you have our condolences!

I am so sorry for your loss. Leo was sure a cute cat! I like his yellow eyes and long fur. I agree with Les, that they are family members and it is the hardest thing to have to do. It is done out of love and compassion though. Condolences to you and your family. He will always be in your heart and memories.

I am very sorry to hear about that. I had to do the same thing about 10 years ago for a beloved dog of mine for the same reason. Huge loss, that is for sure, and one that people who do not have the ability to love an animal will never know.

What a gorgeous photograph of Leo. How handsome and fierce he looks.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Eighteen years is a long time. I know you gave him a wonderful life.

Sincerest condolences from me.

You can tell that kitty has some CHARACTER!!!! The single most rewarding thing my son and I have ever done is becaome involved in feral cat rescue. We have four at home—all rescues and all absolute hoots and members of the family.

Brother SASU when your heart has healed a bit I hope you will be able to reach out to another kitty and enrich his or her life like you obviously did for Leo.

My thoughts are with you in your loss of a wonderful friend, we have all lost or had to put a friend down. Mine were cats and bird dogs, I am 78 years old and I have never forgotten our friends we have had over the last 59 years. It will get better but the lump and the tears are not far from showing. Jeff
