Took a trip to Florida this past week and whenever I stopped at a Walmart, I checked their ammo selection. Almost all of them had CCI Standard Velocity .22 ammo, limit three per customer. Having to keep two teenagers in .22 ammo, I picked some up each time I saw it. CCI Standard Velocity is my favorite .22 ammo, always reliable, accurate and cheaper than most.

Got home and found my local Walmart was knee deep in the stuff, three more boxes laid into the stash:

I think it's around $4.57 a box, approximately .10 cents per round after tax....
Price gouging.

I love CCI, but the recent stocks at WM in my area has been Federal Target Grade. I have been impressed with that stuff. It feeds thru all my semis no problem, and is more accurate than I am. %0.06 per round.

Stopped at the local Farm and Fleet yesterday for dog food and hit Sporting Goods on the way through the store. Plenty of 12 and 20 gauge, various shot sizes, all Winchester. Lots of 308, some 30-06 a few other miscellaneous rifle calibers. Tons of 9mm, steel and brass cased, boxes of 50, 100, 500 rounds priced out at $13-$17 per 50. They even had about 40 boxes of 38 special, some Tula steel cased $21 per 50, and some brass 158 grain LRN by Winchester at $23 per 50. Grabbed 2 of those, everything was limited to two boxes per customer. Things are looking better. Walmart here has had Federal 22 all along, price varied from $27 to 37 per 325 rounds. It’s out there, just need to look around.

I have 11,000 rounds stashed that I got cheap with free shipping before Covid. The only thing I shoot it with is my target rifle.

Boxes, or bricks?

Pre-COVID it was selling for about $30/brick. I imagine it is somewhat more than that at present.

I bought a case of it for that price shipped to my front door in 2019. At the time I thought it was a mistake because I'll probably never shoot it all. A local gun show might be a good place to sell a brick or two for $45. That wouldn't be gouging anyone, would it?

I have said I would not buy any .22lr ammo that's over 5¢ a round. That CCI ammo is under 5¢ a round which makes me very happy to see. Thanks for posting that, I might have to check the 3 Wal-Mart stores right near me.

The Federal ammo is even cheaper, more like the old days.(but not quite lol)

The CCI std velocity are packaged in 50 rd boxes.

If someone pays you that, it is not gouging. Rather, you are doing him a favor (and he's doing you one). If no one pays you that, it might be attempted gouging, but I doubt it. Certainly not gouging.

My Wal-Mart also had it yesterday as well as bulk Federal, Winchester, and Remington 22lr. Don't need any more 22lr so didn't buy any. Always check ammo counter when there.

Just got back from Walmart.
Mine also has some CCI Std Vel.
And Win in that retro box.
And 325 boxes of Fed Automatch.
Bought 2 Federals.
7 cents a round out the door.

If you have to ask...

Considering that CCI themselves are selling it on their site for $49.99 per brick I would say that $45.00 OTD would be a pretty good price . Certainly not gouging and if someone doesn't like the price they are free to pass on it.

A while back I got the itch for some Federal Punch 22.
Finally gave in and ordered 500 rounds direct from Federal.
Cost me 30 cents a round!
Just looked at the Federal site.
It’s down to 24 Cents a Round!
