While my phone cost me around a dollar, it would be $450 to replace it
Do any of you insure yours? Who do you trust?

The ATT insurance prices/deductibles are ridiculous and my house/car/mc/etc carrier doesn't insure phones.

I get my insurance from my cell provider... (Verizon)
It's not cheap (6.99/mo), but they have replaced the phone once already, so I'm ahead of the game.....:D

I don't get it-used to but decided it was not worth it. Have two I phones and insurance does NOT cover a broken screen so wha's the point of getting it?

I work at Best Buy. Our insurance is, on a monthly basis, 10 dollars for most phones, 15 for iPhones. No deductable, and covers just about anything. I have dropped, cracked, dunked phones and they have been fixed or replaced.

Oddly enough, my iPhone has been perfect. They usually do not survive drops really well. I will attribute that to Magpuls awesome cases.

I've had US Cellular for a long time. Used to have their insurance, but they raised the deductible to $50 and it is a pain to collect. If you have a claim, you call and tell your story. Then they transfer you to someone else, and tell it again. If you mis-state ANYTHING, even slightly, you said the first time they deny the claim. Also, if you lose the phone, they make you tell them where you lost it. Uh, gee, if I knew that, I'd go get it. You then have to go fill out a Police report on it, and furnish the officers badge number. It was a huge pain. I finally dropped it.
If you need a new phone a used one is usually available at a reasonable price.

Cell Phone is one of them.

New Iphone is 600 dollars + 45 bucks in tax. 15 dollars a month, for 24 months is 360 bucks. I would rather pay close to half price than full price.

I generally go through a phone once every six months. The iphone is the exception. So I definitely use my insurance.

You lose or damage a phone every 6 months?

How much is the deductible? In their survey only 1 out of 5 had to buy a new phone due to lost or stolen. You must be the one.:)

They also do not recommend extended warranties on cars and appliances, so to each their own.

When my wife got her iPhone 4S from Sprint they said that they don't provide insurance through Sprint but they sell AppleCare. $100 charge and they will replace the phone two times over the two year period.

I don't for my phone but do for the Verizon wireless air card for internet, $6.99 / month and it covers anything, even if i drop in water or even loose it. So they say anyway.

I have it through best buy. No deductible.

Yeah since 2008 I have had a Blackberry Storm, 2 Motorola Droids, a Motorola Droid X and an iPhone 4.

The storm took a dunk, one droid cracked while I was riding my motorcycle, one just decided to quit, I sold the droid x and got a iPhone once they became available for Verizon. I have had my iphone for over a year.

Heck I pay enough for insurance, at least I use it!

If only smartphones were as reliable as smiths...

Mine is through Verizon, hefty deductible, but we have two I-phone 4Ss and my wife and I both spend too much time wondering "Where'd I put my phone?" not to have it. Never had it when we had cheaper phones.

Of course, I can't find my keys, either, most of the time.

I picked up a Razr Maxx from Verizon 3 weeks ago. I usually pass up insurance, but for $6.99/mo, $100 deductable, I still have 30 days to think it over. Replacement of the Maxx is $650. I also re-activated an old Razr flip on a mo. to mo., but since it's been paid for years ago, it's a no-brainer. 2 cell phones, I like to torture myself.

I have had insurance on my phones for over two decades now. I have had four or five replaced due to everything from phone dropping to leaving one on the driveway wall just before an ice storm [in a hurry to get in with too much stuff in my hands] to one going airborne after a particularly annoying conference call.

As for Consumer Reports...I tend to trust them to compare toasters or washing machines. Cars and things like warranties...not so much.
