The previous job (see pic below) was something I did with Rustoleum over a couple coats of something called Adhesion Promoter. It came out great - and did hold up pretty really well. If I had to say what went wrong, I'd say I applied too many coats of paint (maybe 4-5 coats + 2 coats matte clear). As soon as I put it back together (after about 2 weeks of drying), I had issues in most of the holes in the lower receiver, and where the charging handle rests. As for the Cerakote, I'm a big fan, and I think it's incredibly durable, but this is the first polymer gun I've had done with it. I have 3 handgun slides and the Tungsten AR pictured above with Cerakote and they've all been great. And I do use them too. The handgun slides are finished inside and out, and there's no sign of finish deterioration. As for Parkerizing, I'm not familiar with it and wouldn't want to make comparisons - I'd have to leave that to a finishing expert.
