What the heck people, doesn't anyone drink cheap beer anymore?
I mean really, go to any web site and ask what their favorite beer is, and you'll have guys posting pics of some hand blown bottle with a label worthy of a Peter Max poster.
Go to the bar, and every pretentious wing nut is drinking some specially formulated Hops and Barley swill flavored with the tears of virgins scarified on the new Moon (MOON that spells DORK).
Ask them why they drink it, and the answer is "because it taste so great and is soooo smooth".
Come on, Really?

If I want smooth taste I'll get a Root Beer Float, not some carbonated alcohol delivery system.
Next time, just buy a cheap beer , we know why you're really drinking it, and it has NOTHING to do with "taste", so quit being a snob, and let's hoist a few to the buzz!

If it was just about the buzz, you'd be standing on a corner drinking a forty of Colt .45 out of a paper bag.

I like my locally-brewed products, Sconny and Minnesota. Some are cheap, some not so cheap.

Hell no! You drink beer for taste not to get a buzz. Who gets a buzz from beer? How many bottles does that take? American beer prior to the prohibition used to actually taste good, from what i've been told. It the prohibition and later the rationing during WW2 that lowered the standards of what beer should taste like.

I drink a lot of Belgian beers. Why? Because they've been making them for over a thousand years. Figure they know what beer is and how to make it. Whats the date on Bud? "Since 1880" or something like that? Try Grimburgen. "Since 1121" Leffe 12 something. They got beer down right. And they have different tastes. Not just hops. Lamboc is beer but actually tastes like champagne with juice (hard to describe). Really light and bubbly with a hint of fruit flavor. I tried one yesterday that tastes and looks like wine. Farmhouse ale, otherwise known as Saison or seasonal ale, is top fermented (originally left to sit open in farmhouses across France and Belgium to let natural yeast settle on top) and you get an excellent amber colored not heavy ale thats very refreshing and great for hot summer days and still has flavor.

Now a lot of American and Canadian companies are copping the Belgians and good for them. Its not cheap but it sure tastes good. Like you say with firearms " you get what you pay for" same applies to beer.

It has nothing to do with being snobbish or whatever and everything to do with taste and quality. Just like when you go to a restaurant and order a steak you expect it to be fresh and have taste not microwaved garbage.

Try some. If you dont like it try another it aint gonna kill ya. Trust me when you find what you like youll be saying "why was i drinking that sewer water before?"

Hey Gunslinger, me thinks you've struck a nerve. I like really good micro-brews as well (and actually really enjoyed your post)...............I just don't seem to have taken your post quite as personally as some seem to have. Hey, maybe there is a correlation between those folks who drink the high-gravity stuff and their sensitivity level...........hmmmm.

a high quality detailed label is just as easy to print as a simple one. i printed 40,000 sheets of kona brewing company labels yesterday. there were 20 big wave golden ale labels(bodies) and 20 wailua wheat bodies.we finished a run of 89000 sheets. that's 1,780,000 bottles of each. it's not a cheap beer, but not a top end either. i've tried their longboard, it tastes good and is very smooth going down.

I guess it depends on what you're used to. I don't have gobs of money to waste on fancy beer with flashy labels and unpronounceable names so I mainly drink Miller Lite. On a visit to my brother in laws place he gave me one of his yuppie beers. I choked that nasty swill down to be polite but upon returning home I drank a 6 pack just to get the right taste back in my mouth.

Gunslinger, I'm with ya' on this one. My friends give me a hard time because I drink Natural Light beer - "Water with a kick," as I like to say. For me it's not the quality of the beer but the quantity of the beer. How much beer does it take to get a buzz? Usually four...
If I didn't want a beer buzz then I would drink non-alcholic beer, which to me is a oxymoron!
To each his own, but I'll stick to the cheap stuff and have more money in the end to buy more ammo.
Stay thirsty my friend! (Iknow, but someone was going to say it sooner or later) ;)

I quit drinking a couple years ago, but before that I did plenty and it was mostly regular American beer (PBR) but also Mexican beer once in a while.

I made the mistake of telling an ICE agent beer snob that I liked the occasional Dos Equis. He sniffed and said, "So you drink other country's Budweiser." What a tool.

"I don't always drink beer, but when I do it is, Busch L:pite in a can":D

OT but I just gotta say, I remember when they first opened Bush Gardens in Tampa, drinking age was 18 at the time.

You could get 2 free samples at the main section where the display stuff was.
There was another tasting station in Stanleyville Station when you rode the train around the Serengeti. So we have our 2 drafts(draught's) get kicked out, jump on the train, have 2 at the station, get on the train and by that time they changed shifts of servers, so get 2 more, jump on the train.
Well you get the idea:D

Had a lot of fun at that Park.:D

Oh ya, we would get in free cause we would tell the cute girls at the drive in ticket thing we were applying for a job in landscaping at had to meet "Jim" over in the Congo area or some such BS.

I liked Michelob when it is was a draft beer only available in Missouri
or Coors on tap at the brewery, same with Grain belt at the brewery.
Today a cold MGD 64 is about it.

In the 60's drank Loganberry flips (beer, loganberry wine, and 7 UP :) )

I'll reserve the Budweisers for ball games and golf courses but when out having a good time, chillin' at the doghouse or taking the wife to dinner nothing is too good for my tastebuds

You got a Sing Ha, from Thailand, check it out if you ever have the chance, best beer this 1st gen. American of German decent ever drank and costly.

No. Dos Equis Amber? This one is far easier to find and better than a Budweiser, $1.50 more, so what.

You've obviously seen me standing on a couple of street corners --- how did you find out about my mis-spent youth??
:D

Sir, I have repeatedly tried to like fancy schmancy beers and have repeatedly failed. I'll drink them if that's what's available, but I much prefer PBR or Coors Light.

What other people choose to drink, and why, is none of my business.

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

Ron H.
