I picked up this holster a while back for a few dollars. A previous owner removed the safety strap and two machine rivets at the bottom. I had an old leather belt, some snaps and a jar of Fiebing's black Edge Dressing, so I fashioned a safety strap.
It's carved "ELH", which I interpret as Economical Leather Holster! It was probably designed for a 4-5/8" SAA, but won't fit a Ruger Blackhawk because of the ramp front sight. It does fit a 5" N frame!
It works fine, but I'm not crazy about how the strap connection looks. I'm thinking about taking it off, shortening it to go over the trigger guard and re-attaching from the back.
What would you do?
I haven't decided what to do about the missing rivets, but I might just add a leg tie-down strap and braid it.
