Cheyenne

Clint Walker was a body builder , never smoked or drank . The last movie I ever saw him in was " The Dirty Dozen " , alongside the main character Lee Marvin . He played a character named " Posey " . I didn't know that Donna Douglas was his girlfriend . She , for sure was a " looker " , and I say that in complete respect for that young lady . Regards, Paul

In the early shows Cheyenne carried an 1875 Remington and dressed more like a scout. Then he switched to a Great Western .45. My Coltsmith friend is an expert on those guns, too and rebuilt Clint's that some guy bought for a crazy high price. The great L.Q. Jones played his sidekick for a while. Here he's interviewed about Cheyenne. He should have kept his real name. It really had character.

We love Cheyenne. We watch it every night here on Starz Westerns. Looking back, he reminds me of an old west Equalizer. He always did the right thing. Not the easy thing.

A favorite from my childhood was Laredo, especially the first season. Although Chad and Joe were fine the real show stealer was Neville Brand as Reese. Season 2 kind of went off the rails bringing in a new ranger who was sort of a dude and dandy type.

I watched "run for cover" western with Jimmy Cagney the other day-1955-just terrific. Survived the summer on "Perry Mason and Peter Gunn-great cars-clothes-and music.

Mark Levin used to have Clint on every once in a while. He told a great story. He had gotten an appointment to meet with a top studio exec in Hollywood, Goldwyn or Meyer, not sure which now. While driving there he saw an older lady with a flat tire on the side of the freeway. He didn't have much time but he had to stop to help her and changed the tire. When he got to the studio he was late. The exec said "you're late". Clint explained why. The exec smiled and said "I know, she is my secretary". The rest is history.
