chronograph use

NOT a stupid question at all AND not only does how bright the sky is make a difference, but the angle of direct sun will also affect the working of a Chrony in my experience. Just bring your sky shields with you just in case!

I have trouble getting mine to work indoors and got tired of dragging lamps down to the Range so I only use it outdoors now.

Oh, and don't shoot it. :)

Whoops!

Why would anyone shoot a chronograph... ? Those things cost money!

(I didn't say that. Never mind. :D)

Back to the OPs question, I have been using the Competition Electronics ProChrono. It is the most user-friendly chrono I have ever seen. Mine works well in almost any type of natural light and the only thing that causes any trouble is severe wind. If there is enough wind to blow the tripod over, I don't try to use it. Just kidding. Really, the unit is extremely tolerant of almost any lighting condition. I am not fanatical enough to have a spare - but I wouldn't mind having one. :)
