Cigars

I did just that thing last night as it rained here in the heartland, sitting outside under the patio cover listening to it rain, a Montecristo #2 torpedo, a couple of tumblers of Glenfiddich, my trusty Ninja attack Bassett Jessie asleep by my feet.....and all was well in my little corner of the world.

can't have the cigar any more, but some woodford reserve will be enjoyed.

Sounds like a great evening. One thing missing though.......what was on your hip?

I just refreshed the moisture in my humidor. There aren't too many cigars left in there, but on the rare occasion I do get to enjoy one it will be with some fine malt, like Lagavulin.

And now to the smoking room.

My humidors have been well stocked by good friends, great memories and possible tomorrows.

I took a half day from work the other day. Ended up mowing my lawn, but upon completion I remembered my wife had gotten me a cigar sampler and humidor for our recent anniversary. Lit one up and sat outside looking over my handy work. 'twas nice.

I have a special friend I enjoy cigars and a drink with every so often, some great memories, wish we got to do it more often.

I like capt and coke with mine.

So I'll join you (from Alaska) with a lowly Backwoods Honey Berry.......A little Black Lab vodka goes along well. I may break out an Acid this weekend. At $16 a smoke, I don't indulge often.

Took half an hour sitting in the back yard with my dogs, enjoying the late afternoon sun after nine straight says of rain and snow, and smoked a very nice Perdomo Patriarch maduro corona.

My Uncle James was a civil engineer. I would work with him during the summer months when I was a boy.

He always smoked cigars. Those were great days, back when things were simple. No air conditioning, no computers, back when a man spoke the truth. A man could carry a boy to work with him and everyone thought it was a good deed.

Each time I enjoy a good cigar, sitting out back with my dog, Cool-Hand-Luke, it takes me back to a better time. A time when I could spend the day with my uncle and learn what it meant to be a man.

Had a Bobalu Connecticut wrapped cigar this afternoon. I have to remember to order more. Then this evening I went over a friends house and had a Rocky Patel Connecticut Torpedo.

His birthday was last week and he got a bottle of MaCallan 12, a bottle of Balvenie 12, a bottle of Balvenie 15, and a bottle of Balvenie 17.

We drank some of the 17 as we smoked.

It was a good day.
