Joan Crawford could've disarmed me...well, never mind. But as photographed by noted Hollywood photographer, George Hurrell, she was simply flawless.

She and Clark Gable had a pretty torrid offscreen romance going on for a while.

In my opinion, if Gable had been given the right roles, he could have been a western star of the first order, right up there with Gary Cooper and James Stewart.

He was one of the few male actors who, the older he got, the better he seemed to look. As he aged, his face assumed more character. The gray in his hair gave him an air of having seen more than he was willing to talk about. William Holden in The Wild Bunch had this same look.

Unlike a lot of today's male leads, I don't think there was anything phony about Clark Gable. He always admitted his shortcomings, his failings. I think what we saw onscreen was pretty much the real man, again like Cooper and Stewart.

He looked as natural in jeans and a denim jacket as he did in white tie and tails.

Gable died entirely too young.

There are so many things popping into my head that I dare not post.https://
I'm glad you could control your keyboard. If a fine Forum Member such as yourself were to get dinged, well, I just don't know if I could bear it.
