I'm getting a S&W627 with a CMore railway for use in bowling pin and steel plate matches. My question is about cleaning.
Should I remove the red dot when cleaning the pistol? Does it hold it's zero? Is it better to just cover up the red dot with something and leave it attached? How do you guys clean your revolvers with optics mounted on them?

Thanks
Rick

I leave my dots on when cleaning. Cover the lenses with their caps, or the sight with it's cap and clean away.

If you really want to remove your sight for cleaning, depending on the type of sight and type of mount they can return pretty darn close to zero after removal. There's also some technique involved. You'd have to experiment with your own setup to see if you can live with it.

Can't imagine removing optics for cleaning. I just cap them and throw a rag around it, and clean away. Any cleaning of the optics is done last.

The Butler Creek Bikini scope cover do an excellent job of sealing the optic, they are a stretchy rubber and work better than factory hard plastic covers.
