CLEMENS CUSTOM CHICO CALIF

I have a Model 58 S&W that has been converted to 44mag. It has a custom flat sided 8 inch barrel , bo-mar sights , target trigger -hammer & grips. This is a gun I got from my fathers estate , He is a gone & I have no info on the gun or the folks that did the custom conversion.

It is marked
"CLEMENS CUSTOM - CHICO CALIF "on the side of the barrel.

I have been searching for info on Clemens Custom & I can't find anything on the interweb.....

Has anyone heard of them before?

I also tried several Internet searches with similar results. However, I did notice that there are several gun shops in the Chico, CA area. I would call one or more of them and ask if they are familiar with Clemens Custom. If CA is like Georgia, there is a close regional connection (network) between gun shop owners, FFLs, etc. Even if Clemens is no longer in business, I'd bet that someone in the Chico area can provide you with the information that you need. This 58 conversion was probably made during the 1970's time period when 29's were impossible to find or priced a 300% of MSRP. 58's were still widely available at that time and were often used as the basis for conversions.

This looks like a well built custom intended for PPC shooting with a .44.

I took your advice & called a few gun stores in Chico Calif.
I finally was directed to North Valley Gun Shop. Charlie Clemens answered the phone. I had a nice conversation with him. He said he did many conversions in the late 70's & early 80's , Many were for Poiice officers & PPC shooters.

So the mystery of CLEMENS CUSTOM has been solved
