The Westerns..
The Westerns are eternal.
Dirty Harry series are still great movies but more topical with present day society.
The 'Any Which Way' movies were funny and the fight with Bill Smith was awesome. Almost like Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris.
"The Gauntlet" was make believe pap and 'Firefox' was just crummy, capitalizing on the capture (defection) of the Soviet Foxbat.
"The Beguiled": Very surreal movie.
"Play Misty For Me": Great movie before stalkers became an everyday thing.
"Gran Torino": Good role for an aging actor
"Bridges of Madison County": Romance that went absolutely nowhere.

The rest of y'all are entitled to your own opinions, but for my money, it don't get any better than "Josey Wales." Fantastic writing, and an incredible performance by Clint.

I do love "Unforgiven" as well, because it's an older, wiser, and seasoned Clint doing a take on the Western that was at once a departure from, and a tribute to, the themes of the classics of the genre. Again, wonderful writing and one of the great performances I've ever seen on film.
"Deserves got nothing to do with it" is such a statement, on so many levels.
Neither is one of the "spaghetti Westerns" the OP asked about, which is a subgenre of interesting movies for Clint, but his later work is where he really shines. It's in a class by itself.

Play Misty for Me is my favorite, then Two Mules for Sister Sara. after that Josie Wales
Elmore Leonard wrote Joe Kidd but gets my vote just for the scenes with Lamarr.
The Westerns for me please.

I forgot about Honky Tonk Man and Tightrope. I thought those were good movies as Clint Eastwood movies go. However, from reading the posts on this thread, film tastes vary widely.

When I think of Clint Eastwood, the image that pops into my mind is his iconic look squinting with the thin cigar, flat brimmed hat, and Mexican poncho from the early Westerns. And my favorite line is: “Well, are ya gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?” from Josey Wales.

Although an admirer, only knew of Clint in "Rawhide" and "Play Misty for Me". I obviously have a lot of catching up to do.

I had the iconic poster of josie wales in bedroom as a kid
My dad must have put it there as i was too young to have done it myself
My dad taught me to use a SAA... And my mom taught me to take no BS from a peer
That was on heck of a role model to look up to

I watched The Mule on PPV the other night. Not a great movie but I couldn't turn it off. He reminded me so much of my Dad I was fighting back tears. His eyes, his movements. My wife had to leave the room. She was afraid he'd get shot and I'd get upset.
