Would you rather have a gun and need pepper spray or have pepper spray and need a gun ????

In that scenario, pepper spray s a disaster inside a vehicle. My only point is stop going to your gun before there is a credible threat. All options are then off the table. Your gun is last resort not first option.
A close call would have looked more like guy with a crowbar started smashing the window. Certainly a threat of death or severe injury there. One unarmed guy vs 3 grown men, yeah not so much.

Use the gas pump instead of pepper spray, it's already in your hand. That should help create some distance so you have the needed time to draw your handgun. All of this depends on the level of threat that you feel you are facing.

Spray him with gas and he most certainly will retreat a few steps. I also would have backed up a couple of steps, plus my 9mm ammo is flashed suppressed. I'm not dumb enough to spray myself and then shoot someone.

Correct answer! Flashing a firearm, even if you are trying to warn someone to go away, is brandishing and is likely to get you an "interview" with your local law enforcement agency. It might also get you a court date and a revocation of your CCW permit.

I'm not sure that I would agree with the law enforcement POV in that case, but it IS defensible, and one would usually be a fool to expose oneself to it.

In most states, there must be a reasonable fear of injury or death before use of deadly force. Ponting a gun at someone can be deemed a use of force. Onside a locked car, unarmed person, where is the threat? Too many people out there carryng a gun & just have no clue.
