Received my 1911a1 last week after sending in my packet for the 2nd round Jan. 4th.

Recieved a nice Remington Rand frame with G.I. replacement "hard slide" and a neat chrome lined israeli contract barrel. Pistol has Springfield Armory and Anniston Armory rebuild marks.

Took it out and shot it and it functioned fine and was pleasingly accurate.

The CMP folks are great to deal with. I really never expected them to ever offer 1911s again....thanks to everyone who made it happen.

I was so far back in the first round that i never expected to get one, Rack grade Colt slide RR frame. I was knd of disappointed until I shot it, what a wonderful pistol.

Congratulations to you.

Colt 1911

Nice gun, I'm sure you'll be happy with it. Here is the Colt 1911 my father picked up from the DCM back in the 60's. For some reason the picture turned 90 degrees and I can't figure out how to turn it.

Form follows function! Congratulations on that piece, enjoy it at the range!

Very cool!

I got my field grade in the first go round. Remington Rand through and through. No arsenal marks and not a lot of finish left either. I love it.

I hope the next round is open to all again.

Looks like it was never rebuilt! Nice one for sure.

It's definitely rebuilt, with all the arsenal rebuild stamps and a post-war replacement slide. Those post-war slides are known as "hard slides", the entire slide is heat treated and hardened instead of spot treating the muzzle and slide stop areas. Basically, the hard slide has the durability of Colt's post-war/modern 1911-A1's. Yours looks like it underwent a full rebuild with refinishing, then stored.

When I was an infantryman in the 70’s every 1911 in our armory looked just like yours with no finish left .

I got mine at the very tail end of the first round. I just got lucky that enough people changed their minds and they got to me. ;)
1942 Colt frame with an Ithica slide. No rebuild marks.

I was commenting on sigp220.45's pistol.

I wonder how many more are still in military storage?

60,000 */- if the story I read was true. They started with 80K and I think they sold 20,000 or so. Only CMP knows and I don't think they'll tell you. I asked. ;)

Realistically there's probably more guns than buyers. Look for the present adm to throw a wrench in the sales.

I've posted a photo or two of this one before. It is a Remington Rand, late 43', I think, that belonged to a police officer who unfortunately, passed away from a heart attack much to young.

The chief of the PD,a friend of my Dad's, was contacted by the officer's surviving widow for assistance in sell her husband's firearms. This was one of two .45's that were in the collection. The other one was an Argentine .45 and both were in 98-100% condition. Both were priced at $45.00 but, this was in 1966.

My Dad wanted a G.I., .45 like he carried in the Pacific. This one came with an original shoulder holster made by Sears.
