CO movie theater shooting

The shooter probably used student loan money to buy his gear. The only thing a bit hard to come by would have been the OC grenade. Was a pop top one maybe.

If the photo of his AR that I saw was correct... the shooter had a 4x20 carry handle scope and not any type of optic designed for close and fast work.

Still... makes you wonder where and how he learned to shoot while wearing a gas mask. That takes practice and is not a common skill set. MKultra alive and well?

Not to blame the theater, but I'm wondering why the doors werent checked? The local theater here checks all emergency exit doors before and after each showing. Sometimes they are checked during shows. Hence the only way in is the front door.

If the doors had been checked, this event may not have happened.

Do I think it was staged? No...maybe there was other people behind this for funding, etc etc. But the whole staging just before the UN gun treaty deal thing i dont believe. The way the economy of the USA is right now, if they ban the sell of guns/ammo, there will be ALOT of businesses closing and alot of people out of work[/QUOTE]

Looks like a bunch of speculation dreamed up because the author, like too many these days, lacks the ability to accept that these fruit loops exist and can plan and execute such a heinous deed on their own. Those who have an inherent belief in "society" and "human nature" (those terms mean something a little different to me) get very uncomfortable or point blank refuse to accept the concept of the "Lone Wolf".

I have a very firm belief in human nature and the limited effect that society has on the "human nature" of a few individuals. History has shown that is just the way it is, and you will not catch them all before they do harm. I don't remember passing a sign in my mother's birth canal stating "It's OK, the world you are entering is intrinsically safe", do you?

You generally can't get a babysitter for that late at night. Babysitting is usually done by teenage girls, who aren't able to be out that late. So you have to tote the young ones around with you.

Back in the 50s I recall that my parents would get my sister and myself into our pajamas and load us into the car and head out to the drive-in for a movie. We would sleep on the back seat. Not an option now most places.

So, try this novel concept: you cannot get a sitter and it is not a smart thing to take your toddlers to a movie theatre at midnight, therefore, YOU DON"T GO. Does this impinge on constitutional rights or just the rampant control freakism I see everywhere? Just asking.

From what I gathered tonight was he walked in to the theater with everyone else. Took a phone call right before the movie started and walked out the exit. Went to the car, dressed and came back in the exit he went out. Eye witness accout.

Also, when he was done shooting he went back out the exit. Someone closed the door on him. He banged on the door several times. He could not get in as the witness said there is no door handles on the outside.

This is so terrible for the victums and families involved! Unfortunately, the second amendment will take another hit while the justice system fails again with the appeals process , plea deals and other court room mumbo gumbo BS!

Prayers go out to the families involved first and foremost.
This is a nut case. Enough said.
Whatever happens from here on out it's not good for us
responsible gun owners. Like it or not **** like this reflects
on everybody who owns firearms.
Our fearless leader will no doubt use this episode for his own
personal agenda and motives. Much like he did when the Seals
caught Bin Laden. Sad Day Indeed.

We all know that the guns and the gun culture will get the blame for this senseless tragedy, but I could kill a LOT more people with a gallon of gasoline and a flare gun. And yet I don't hear of anyone trying to limit gasoline sales, or require a background check.

Emotional events like this are simply fodder for the hysterical, the media feeds off of it, and the politicians use it for their own twisted purposes. Lord help us all.

A massive lawsuit against the theater might turn some of the emotion back where the responsibility should lay.

Of course you don't go! Unfortunately, it is the mentality of "kids" these days that they're not willing to take responsiblity for what is their responsibilty, it is a lack of willingness to take ownership for their actions, it is the pervasive notion that society owes them something rather than they owe something to society; it is the notion that their "rights" exist exclusively without regard for the rights of those around them and that blaming others and making excuses is much easier than taking responsibility.

When a person is shooting into a crowded theater it takes neither skill or practice to hit someone.

Already I'm hearing noises on the news saying he must have serious mental issues, triggered by some event during his childhood. It would be sad if this guy were sent off to a mental institute and spent the rest of his life in relative comfort, on our bill! Or be "cured" and released.
When I hear that kind of talk I'm reminded of a joke I heard in South America when I was travelling there years ago.
"A murderer is on trial in Venezuela, his lawyer mentions the insanity defence. The judge tell defendant to stand and to place his "privates" on the table, that done the Judge tosses the gavel to the murderer and tells him "now hammer them hard, 10 times, if you do you I'll declare you insane."
The joke was popular after some high profile murder in the US where the insanity defence had been used.

Condolences to the family and friends of the victims. What a shame even kids involved. Only if someone in there was carrying concealed I believe this wouldn't have ended up so badly. JMO.

IF someone would have just tackled the scum bag this might have not ended so badly....
I guess they were too busy retreating to attack.

It is certainly tragic when this type of senseless thing happens. It is also tragic that the media jumps ups and pulls out all of the antigun material. Blame the gun industry, blame the sportsman and target shooters. Hey what about the guys family that missed something in raising the guy, what about Hollywood movies and the violenence, how about bang bang shoot-em video games?? You think any of this is being debated?

Suppose the guy took his car and plowed through the line outside of the movies waiting to get in, who would the media blame them?

If someone in the movie was carrying, the outcome may have been different.

I pray for the families that had loved ones involved in this tragic event and I pray for this country cause we are not moving in the right direction.

Obviously guilty, give him a speedy trial, maybe one appeal then either a swift death penalty or a thousand years in the most miserable super max. No safe and serene mental institution.

I'm pretty sure we don't see Roadrunner cartoons much anymore because some left wing looney thinks they are too violent but everyday kids are shooting hookers and cops in a video game with blood spraying everywhere. I love our freedoms but if we need to ban something it has to be these violent realistic video games.

I remember seeing the movie the Longest Day. It was shot in black and white to minimize the blood. Good call in the day. We've lost that sensibility.

Actually, your chances of being murdered are lower today than in the '50s. This is an aberration, but the tendency is to ask "How can we prevent this in the future?" I am afraid the answer is you cannot without denying someone their constitutional rights. IMO, there is probably no practical means to prevent this. Some time ago the theater decided it would be a good idea to deny CCW carriers the right to carry in their theaters. That worked about as well as Virginia Tech or Columbine denying people the ability to carry guns. The nut case in Arizona who shot Gabby Giffords was bouncing off the wall nuts. He was thrown out of school for being crazy yet the school didn't refer him to mental health help. Thus he wasn't on the radar screen when he purchased a pistol. Still, the morning he killed those folks he was so off the wall that the first Wal-Mart he went to wouldn't sell him ammunition. I doubt this guy will be successful with an insanity defense. There was too much meticulous planning. Don't forget, insanity is a legal term, you can be nuts and legally sane. I am guessing the lawyers will be happy to plead "guilty" in exchange for life in prison. Colorado is a death penalty state. IMO it is rare that these killers are arrested. The Beltway Sniper was executed, the VA Tech killer and the Columbine killers killed themselves. It is my guess that the prosecutors will not bargain and he will spend 10-20 years in prison on death row before being executed. Charles Manson remains eligible for parole in CA.
