I have been using SNS Coated 125 gr LFN in light loads for 357 Sig for several Months. I decided I wanted to see what they would do in full power loads. I started by chronographing Winchester Ranger 125 gr SXT the results for a 10 shot average out of a 4.7 inch Barrel was 1424.9 FPS. The following results were obtained from handloads:

8.5 grs Longshot out of 3.9 inch Barrel=1394.9 FPS
8.5 grs Longshot out of 4.7 inch Barrel=1437 FPS
7.8 grs BE-86 out of a 4.7 inch Barrel=1390.3 FPS
7.0 grs CFE Pistol out of a 4.7 inch Barrel=1298.4 FPS
8.2 grs Power Pistol out of a 4.7 inch Barrel=1420.2 FPS

It should be noted that the CFE Pistol load was a start load listed in the Hodgdon manual. I will probably work this load up, but I will also probably continue to use this as a light load. All loads had an OAL if about 1.130 inches and all were 10 shot averages. Since I was chronographing I did not really shoot for groups but all loads seemed to be as accurate as I usually shoot. There were no pressure signs or flatened primers with any of the loads. All loads also shot relatively clean With no leading and very little smoke. All loads were fine in my guns, In your guns start low and work up.

I'd say that's a good result (to quote Mythbusters folks)!

Will be interested to see any further reports on using the coated 125gr FN bullets.
