Coffee

We bought a superautomatic coffee machine, wanting to mimic the brew that you'd get at a coffee bar in Florence Italy.
Tried many roasts, then spoke with an experienced Barista. He recommended a fresh roasted full-city blend called Redline, from a custom roaster in Chicago. It turned out to be exactly what we were looking for.

Whole bean Edgar's Signature Blue Mountain Peaberry Blend from Blue Mountain Coffee. Run it through the Mr Coffee Jr for a quick cup, or if I want it more full then I have a 6 cup glass percolator on the stove.

Best coffee I ever tasted was Jamaican Blue Mountain, in Jamaica. I found some here in the states later and it doesn't taste anything near the same. I go for dark roast, particularly the Italian blends.

The plantation was badly damaged by a hurricane several years ago perhaps here it was blended to make up for lack of product.

As a teen I worked in A&P,they had diff.coffee grinders(fine medium etc.)My job at times was to grind the beans for the customers.I loved the coffee aroma when grinding! Best cup of coffee I ever had was at WDW Poly. Every time I'm at WDW I make sure I stop at the Poly for coffee! Anyone ever have coffee away from home at a "particular" place that just tastes better than anywhere else!

A subject so near and dear to my ol’ heart.
Personally, if I have to create the illusion of being a functioning human in the morning after an all-night recording session or whatever, I keep a bag of Death Wish handy. I used to work at a gun shop here in Cbus that sells Black Rifle and back then, their “Caffeine And Hate” was my emergency nuclear jumpstart. In fact, my personal favorite java of all time is Black Rifle’s “Sniper’s Hide”. And seemingly for the simple fact that I like it, it went away. (Seems like all it takes for something to tank is for me to like it.) Dunkin’s regular stuff is the closest I’ve been able to find.

Ravens Brew-Dead Man's Reach. Thats when I have time and don't have to worry about waking up my little lady. Any other time whatever **** kuerig cups are on sale. Ive been to death wish coffee at their original location in Saratoga Springs. It was ok. Problem with good coffee is that it also attracts the hipster crowd with their stupid hats and cuffed jeans.

Peet's

My favorites:

At home - Peet's Dark Roast House Blend.

When we can go out again, my favorite local coffee shops are CBTL (Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf), they make a terrific Americano :)

Well it finally happened..........

one bag of my coffee beans finally went sour and had a bad taste.
Gave it a 2nd try after giving the Mr. Coffee a vinegar bath but the taste was still "OFF".

Might have been my using three bags at the same time? I generally only have two bags out for use.

Just glad that coffee is not anywhere close to the needs of TP !!

For me it is hard to get kick started in the morning, without old Joe around.

Coffee . . . Ahhhh.... Like Armorer951, I roast my own. Beans from Sweet Maria's and a Behmor roaster ruined me for anything but home roast. I like the heavier, more full bodied beans. Indonesia, Africa and Yemen produce some of my favorites. I'm less interested in the lighter central and south American coffees. Note that I refer to body, not roast level. I used to enjoy darker roasts, but over the years I learned that lighter roasts bring out more of the nuances that are destroyed in dark roast.

Any other homeroasters out there?

I was a home roaster but gave it up as too much work, like I did bullet casting. It turns out I like drinking coffee and shooting more than coffee roasting and bullet casting.
Currently I'm trying Intelligensia's "Black Cat" and Olympia Coffee's "Big Truck Espresso" from Seattle Coffee Gear.

A message from the Dali-latte

My gf just got this from our fav. coffee house/restaurant in Bellingham WA, Tony's Coffee in Fairhaven. It's been so long since we've been there, due to the pandemic, that this says everything.

We are well-known for asking for "Two extra-hot, pool-sized lattes" (Don't really have to ask any more- they know.) When we finally do get back there, we're going to ask for "Two extra-hot, pool-size Dali lattes."

While we had one here we used Kroger but we don't have one so I buy first one thing then another. Mostly stick with Walmart brand. Have been considering a Kuerig and some kind of pods but not sure of what kind to try.

Peets, a small roaster in California that is seen in a large number of the grocery stores around me. I love their Sumatra. They pride their product on selling fresh product and it has the sell by date and roasted date on each pack, only having about a 4 month shelf life. I have an outdated grocery product store near me and have become a constant shopper, they sell this stuff at 2.99 instead of the 10.99 in the big box stores and it goes away quickly when it comes in. When I run out, its off to the big box store for a 10.99 bag. I do like the darker roasts and have experimented with the various brands and types, I love the Sumatra best of all I have tried

Most of my Career was working mid-nites, as a result, I’ve drank ALOT of Coffee.... mostly restaurant or dunkin coffee. At home, Maxwell House in a Percolator, just like the old commercial they had.

Went thru a couple of Mr. Coffee machines using 8 O’clock , I really like the 8 O’clock coffee.

The Wife got a Keurig and been getting the Colombian Supremo from Sams, a medium dark .

I’ve cut WAY back on coffee, max 2 cups a day.

The two strongest coffee’s I ever had was Cuban Expresso coffee, served in a paper shot sized cup and Cowboy Coffee.

The Cowboy Coffee was on a week long Elk Hunt in Wyoming back in the 80s...Back than, I would drink 4-5 cups a day.

The Leader of the group was a 100% good guy... He had a S&W .41 Magnum and I had my 29 and we got along great.

First morning, He asked me to bring back water from the Stream not far away.... Handed me a large pot... When I got back to the cook tent , he placed the pot on the fire and when it was boiling, threw in what seemed like a pound of ground coffee. ( hard to tell how much, as we packed everything in on horses, and the coffee was in a large sack).

As the coffee came to a rolling boil, I could see the grounds swirling and thought how were we going to drink this....after awhile, Stan threw a handful of egg shells from our breakfast in the boiling coffee. It immediately settled the grounds.

That was some strong coffee... one cup was plenty for me. We had a total of 10 in our Hunting party and had coffee made like this every day.

Best hunting trip I ever had.

I roasted a pound of a Brazil and Costa Rica, a nice medium dark roast, a nice smooth cup hint of berry and spice. I use a small commercial air bed roasted, I can program roast profiles into it. I have had it about 12 years. I did do roasting of some local folks did pretty well but could not afford to stock the high end beans folks wanted to try. the Kona, Blue Mountain, Mocha Java. I have a supplier that sells me 50 lbs bags at reasonable
