Coffee

Coffee . . . Ahhhh.... Like Armorer951, I roast my own. Beans from Sweet Maria's and a Behmor roaster ruined me for anything but home roast. I like the heavier, more full bodied beans. Indonesia, Africa and Yemen produce some of my favorites. I'm less interested in the lighter central and south American coffees. Note that I refer to body, not roast level. I used to enjoy darker roasts, but over the years I learned that lighter roasts bring out more of the nuances that are destroyed in dark roast.

Any other homeroasters out there?

I usually drink Community dark roast for everyday coffee. For special occasions I use a french press and use some Kona Med Dark coffee I order online from the Big Island. I've also bought the Blue Horse Kona from Amazon too and it's a good Kona coffee.

Best coffee I ever tasted was Jamaican Blue Mountain, in Jamaica. I found some here in the states later and it doesn't taste anything near the same. I go for dark roast, particularly the Italian blends.

I once read that several times as much Blue Mountain coffee is sold around the World as is grown in Jamaica!

Best,
Rick

Colombian Supremo.

But have had excellent coffees from El Salvador and Guatemala, among others. I dislike most from Brazil and Indonesia. Taster's Choice is my favorite instant .

I once sold an article on coffee to the Dallas Morning News food section.

I love good coffee, but drink more tea now.

I'm buying low acid or no acid coffee and most of it is pretty good. This week I'm going to open up a can of Don Pedro 100% Arabica Coffee American Roast. Stone ground & low acid. Hope its good

Like redlevel my usual go to is Folgers. In the past (before my brother-in-law divorced his German wife) I got real German coffee and was in earthly heaven! I don't know what the Germans did or what bean they used but it was the smoothest and strongest I ever had. Loved that stuff!

A little local Christian gift shop sells some coffee packets-don't know the origins-but love the titles "Raise the Dead" and "Holy Grounds".

Like JimmyJ, am not too particular, just hot, black and strong (however must sweeten with a little honey), so I buy Hills Brothers because the local grocery always has it on sale less than $7.

We’ve tried a number of exotic coffee’s and keep coming back to 8 O’Clock whole bean. We use a Cuisinart with an automatic burr grinder and it makes a good pot of coffee. Whole beans have actually been difficult to find on the store shelves lately, but I’m trying to stay home and haven’t been grocery shopping as much as I usually do.

I ventured out first thing this morning and found one large bag of 8 O’Clock on the shelf, so we’re set for a few more weeks.

It’s crazy out there! I arrived at Kroger 10 minutes before they opened and there was already a line of people waiting to get in. Several were wearing pajamas, a few were wearing masks and one guy had a pair of pantyhose tied over his face!

We use the same burr grinder. Been grinding Costco Columbia beans for a long time. I like good coffee but don't think I would go as far as roasting my own. Used to get 8 o'clock when it was a bogo at the store.

That guy must have been a robber politely waiting for the store to open. (Or, maybe after an exciting night the day before, was hung over and waiting in line to buy some aspirin?)

I recently bought a box of off brand K cups for work at a discount store. Figuring, how bad can it be? It tasted like I’d brewed Cutty Pipe(if you’re old enough to get the comparison). Worst stuff I ever had, and I’ve drank lots of bad coffee.

I have gone form canned, to crystals, to whole beans to get the best brew for my morning fix.

Right now I have a double Dark Roast that opens my eyes but a friend from Seattle told me about a super brand of Starbucks, that I needed to try out.

Of course, I can't remember the name now.................... duh.

Still lots of brands that I have yet to try, while I have to stay inside.

Later.

I can't call myself a "home roaster", but I do buy beans from Sweet Marias and roast with a Nostalgia popcorn maker. Green coffee beans don't go bad, so good stuff to stockpile...kind of like ammo :)
My everyday beans are from RedBird Coffee in MT. I usually buy the bags of Blue Jaguar...good stuff. I actually just fixed my Quick Mill machine today. BTW Chris Coffee service is the best for espresso machines and after service help. I've had my machine for 10 plus years and they have helped me numerous times. Great people to do business with.
