Cokes for my 57

You can find them for less than $800. I saw two really nice sets sell at the Symposium last week for $500ish. I sold a set for $375 plus a set of diamond magnas. Eagle grips makes a close alternative in their Heritage line for $225 or so as I remember.

Cokes were technically known as oversized target grips. aside from the mild, dual palm swells which give them the nickname, they also have a larger checkered area and a more oval profile when viewed from the bottom. Used only on the early .44 Magnums and then later on the model 57 when it was introduced.

Aside from getting very lucky on eBay, Roger's Grips & Guns may have a set, but that is where the $800 price tag comes from. Out in the wild, $450 - $600 is more common, but prices keep going up. I have purchased at least one gun just to get the Cokes that adorned it - of course it was a nice gun too, but the main impetus was the grips - which was like getting a huge discount on the gun. That was a 6" Model 27-2. Then there is the nickel Model 57 shown in this thread and my premiere set is on my 1950 HE Target .44 Special.

I purchased a nice S prefix model 28-2 in large part due to the Coke grips it was wearing.

Hi
I purchased both a Walnut Square and a Round for K/L Frames from Altamont Company out of Thomasboro Illinois (yeah I know). Not a Chicago area company at least. They have a facility on what used to be Chanute AFB, where my Dad went to USAAC basic and / or weather forecasting school.

Altamont Company S&W K/L

I haven't put them on the gun yet. I have hopes that they allow use of a speed loader.

On a K frame?

THAT is a spectacular looking piece of iron!
I don't want to put words in Leo's mouth, but if I recall, from earlier posts about Cokes, these started life as N-frame Cokes and he had, obviously an artisan, modify them for the K-frame - and what a K-frame, it deserves Cokes. LOL

Leo: feel free to correct me if I got this wrong.

Adios,

Pizza Bob
