Is there a cold blue that matches the blueing on a S&W model 14-3. I have one in need of a spot repair.

No cold blue will be a perfect match, you will always be able to see the repair. You can heat it and layer it and use different products, but it will always be a repair with varying results as to effort expended.

I have had surprisingly good results with this product. Take in steps: Apply product in a good layer, use a hairdryer to warm it up well, let stand 5 minutes, clean of with a good oil, leave wet with oil, heat again with the hairdryer and let it stand for 24 hours. Wipe it down and see what you have. Repeat as needed. With patience you can get some good results. Not dead on but darn close...

The two best cold blues IMO are Birchwood Casey cold blue paste & Brownell's Oxpho Blue paste. Still - not going to be a permanent job from past experience and will need touching up from time to time.

HINT: Make sure the area has been thoroughly cleaned with Alcohol first and don't touch the cleaned area with your fingers. Burnishing with 0000 steel wool between a few coats will help blend it in. Don't forget to use water to stop the process and oil afterwards.

I use Oxyblue liquid and a tiny auto touch up aplicator that has just a little bit of an aplicator on the tip. works great for small touch ups. I use a heat gun and get it hot then apply. I think it works better thatn a hair dryer. if its small you dont want to barnish it with steel wool as it will mare the rest of the gun. heres a pic of a CZ 82 that I blued using oxy blue. after you touch it up put a few drops of oil on the repair and let is sit over night

I used Outers Blue cream with good results. I heated up the pistol in the oven (minus the grips) after I cleaned the whole thing with lacquer thinner. I wore vinyl gloves and kept actual handling to minimum. After I applied the blue and let it sit for a bit, I didn't run the pistol under cold water but used a clean damp cloth to stop the process, wiped it down with a clean flannel cloth, and gave it a light coat of oil. It came out pretty good.
