Hey guys, new guy here. Got my first gun (first gun that I personally own) and it's a Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm. I've been looking around and have been interested in modding it to make it more "mine." I've heard that it affects the value and whatnot but I don't plan on selling this thing for a long time. Anyway, I have been researching the gun on youtube (cleaning and maintenance mostly) and I came across this comparison video where he has a gold barrel on his M&P. Anyone know where I can get something like this? Don't need a threaded barrel like this one but more curious where I can get different colors. Appreciate the help

A typical barrel cost around $150. One that youre looking at is around $300. That equals to 1500 rounds of ammo. Before dumping money into it how about learning to shoot it. Take some clases, use it for what its ment for. Just a suggestion.

Another thing to note if you're new to guns. We have panics. Everytime some politician mentions gun control ammo availability drops like a rock. When the Orlando shooting happened SG Ammo, one of the bigger online retailers, had their ammo stock severely depleted within hours. Your talking tens of thousands of rounds sold almost instantly. When Sandy Hook school shooting happened every retailer big and small was sold out within a week and the drought lasted for a year if not more. Every time some ammo would trickle in someone would buy it out immediately. It took years for some calibers to get back to normal stock. Ammo manufacturers were running 24/7 and couldn't keep up. Midway sold out of their warehouse full of mags in under a day. And with the political climate right now and the possibility of Hillary winning I suggest you buy mags and ammo and skip the "make it mine" because you'll only be one of a million people with a painted barrel but will have no ammo to shoot it. I can GUARANTEE you that in the coming months ammo and mags will start to dissappeare rapidly in preparation for the possibility of a Democratic victory

Warfrog Industries does titanium nitride, (TiN) coatings that'll give you a "gold" barrel.
Not affiliated with them, or know anything about them, other than they can supply you with what you want.
I'm sure there are others out there, but I read about these guys on another forum.
To each his own, your money, spend it how you want.

For less than the price of a slightly colored barrel, you could literally have custom mill work, cerakote job, & polish for something a little more noticeably custom.

This was done by Fox Valley Firearms in Appleton, WI.

IMHO I would rather buy ammo also. A barrel is a barrel is a barrel.

Unless it doesn't shoot worth the powder needed to blow it up... then you go to an APEX barrel.

Before you spend $$$ to dolly up a factory barrel, better make sure it's worth the effort.

In the priority/scheme of things, which not only do I agree with, but live it, being here in CA with our ever changing gun/ammo/magazine laws... ammo first, accessorizing can always be done later.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I appreciate the comments on ammo and such and as I'm new to this (obviously) I hadn't thought that far ahead. The "making it mine" won't come for quite a while regardless of whether I actually decide to do it or not but I just wanted a point of reference to help me figure out where I could get this done seeing as how google didn't seem to help much.
