That is exceptionally nice. Could you tell us a bit more about the project. I am particuoarly interested in ow much it costs to refinish, as I know next to nothing about that.

thanks

I carry this DS:

but I've wanted to try a lighter weight Agent for a while now

Found the Agent at a gunshow last month, traded this for it straight across:

(dealer thought I was on dope and was quick to accept the deal, but the trigger wasn't what I wanted even after a trigger job)

Soooo....I went to work on the Agent

DuraCoat spray job (1st time to try that stuff)
Hammer bob and checker
Gary Dean trigger job
Swapped the Jim Badger grips

that's about it

Nice job Doc, by the way, who bobbed the hammer on that Agent?

A friend here in Texas who's an amateur gunsmith and a member of a couple of online forums.

I originally bought the DS from him and went back to him for the Agent hammer bob. Great guy, and he does immaculate work. He's "TexasColt" on the thehighroad.org forums.

Thanks.

Of course, I wasn't sure how this trade deal would be received on the Smith forum, but everyone's been super nice.

Even after a trigger/action job the M60 was just rougher'n a cob. If it had been as smooth as my M36 trigger, I probably would've kept it.

Just for the record, this is my wife's PD pistol:

You'll find that on this forum everyone is, first and foremost, a GUNNUT. We appreciate most anything that goes BOOM! no matter who made it.

Great job, BTW.

Doc,

That gun looks great! Here's my "semi-bobbed" Agent with my wife's Detective Special.

update

Back from the range and the Agent's first shoot. This little booger shoots GREAT! It's bumped the Detective Special out of first place, and will now be my carry gun. Fantastic trigger, good balance, accurate, and even though it's lighter, it's very easy to control for followup shots.

re: DuraCoat project

Notice how the heat and powder flame has kind of scalloped the cylinders. Not sure if I didn't apply it thickly enough or if it hasn't fully hardened in the last week or so.

Just thought I'd give everyone a head's up about this issue. Actually, I kind'a LIKE IT...reminds me of a '50's hotrod flame job.

Also, I should have loaded empty brass into the cylinder before I sprayed it. Had to use emery paper to clean up the cylinder bores so empty brass ejects smoothly. No big deal, but something to remember if you're planning on doing a DuraCoat job.

I use an Agent for one of my carry pieces at work. I really like it, but it's not as nice as yours. You did a great job.
