Colt AR value?

If it's a "Sporter" series rifle the pivot / takedown pin diameter is the same size as USGI and current uppers and lowers, this facilitates easy upper lower swaps, the larger hammer / trigger pins are only an issue if you want to swap out those parts as the larger pin parts are unique to those era Colt guns, IIRC aftermarket drop in target trigger packs are around ,

IIRC the sear block requires using the factory cut unique BCG, I will have to pull my 6601 out of the safe to confirm this but it's only an issue if u want to swap bcg's.

The older SP1, SP2 Colts have a large pivot pin which was intended to prevent mating AR15 uppers/ lowers to M16 uppers / lowers, the aftermarket came up with conversion offset adapters that solve that problem.

Nice!
When you get some time post some pics of the right side .

I just checked and my my early production Sporter 6601 HBAR will
actually work with an M16 BCG.
Colt cut the 6601 bcg so a full auto adapter could not be attached to the bcg,
The receiver sear block prevented the installation of drop in lightning links etc.

In Theory, the Sporter had Large front takedown pin , large trigger pins , and sear blocks .

Seen with my own eyes on Sportsters with confirmed purchase dates , and iron clad chain of ownership ( original purchaser, or original purchaser' close relatives that had the rifle in sight it's whole life ) - Colt used different combinations of features , also including half A1/ half A2 hybreds . Colt never wasted parts inventory , and using up parts on hand was higher priority than bright and sharp division lines of product specs .

( The worst were LE marketed " Commando " versions . Colt never made them for stock , but assembled them as ordered by LE Agency/ LE Distributors . Using whatever components were in the parts bin that week .)

At the time , AR aficionados ragged upon large pin Sportsters for " Not Being GI " . But in hindsight , most Sportsters were well made , and often notably accurate . My bone stock Sportster can do 1.0 moa out of the box , with iron sights .
