I had never owned an AR-15 and was curious about how accurate they might be. After a little research I purchased a Colt HBAR Elite with a 24" barrel. I found that this rifle with 69 grain Match Kings and Varget powder will shoot 3/4" groups at 100 yards. I would like to shoot this rifle with iron sights but am confused about what will work. The front sight seems to be especially problematic. I am sure we have some folks on the forum that are far more knowledgeable than I about these rifles, any recommendations?

I have a Colt HBAR Elite that has a low profile gas block, one piece solid aluminum round handguard and no sights at all. Obviously, I had to scope it, as there was not other option. Mine has a 20" barrel with 1 in 9" twist and chambered in 5.56 (despite the receiver saying it is .223 Remington). There were so many versions of these rifles over the years, why don't you post a picture so we can see exactly what you have? Does the gun have any sights at present?

I had one of those years ago. It was setup for Match Rifle cmp shoots. I used anschutz sights font and rear. I had an adapter for the rail mount for the rear sight and a special elevated adapter for the globe front sight. If I remember Correctly I had gotten the parts from Champions Choice and brownells. It was very accurate, Good enough to shoot high master scores (98% and above) if I did my part.
I just looked on the champion Choice website and they sell a rear receiver sight, with a mount for flat top ar15's. Not the same one I had but i know they deal in top of line equipment. Hope this helps.
