Have the same exact version same finish same grips,

They are pretty but at first glance kinda expected it to feel like a model 19,
Its actually more like an L frame 586, weight and cylinder size wise,
Grips are big in the hand and have sharp angles and a BIG heel,
Trigger pull is long and heavy taking some effort .

Its a BIG gun and more like a beefed up L frame with a Model 19 barrel ,
IIRC later versions (Trooper 4 or 5?) had a vented rib with same half lug barrel.

Cant recall if they were offered in larger calibers but they were definately offered in smaller ones like .22lr and .22WMR ,
one of my favorite pieces is a 4" blue Trooper III in .22Lr... ( more like the L frame .22lr S&W never built)
....it is a Beast and if you like LARGE 22lr handguns I definitely recommend picking one up.

Interstingly the Diamondback is slightly smaller than the K frame but larger than the J frame so goes between them size wise.

Been meaning to take a .22lr group shot with a 4" Model 34, Diamondback, K22 and Trooper III to show the size differences but just havent gotten around to it .

Nice gun thanks for sharing it !

just picked up a Trooper MK3 at local show .Does not show any wear, looks like a new gun.Had several other dealers show restraint and offer to buy it if i didn't.

Beautiful. I bought the exact same gun back in 1978. In fact it was the first firearm I purchased. Unfortunately I sold it some years later as Uncle Sam wasn't paying an E-4 as much as he is today and a family has bills. I have acquired this one over the years but still miss my first one.
