It's my only Commemorative

Commemorative guns have never really interested me.

Generally speaking I don't have any connection to the commemoration & all the decorative designs on them don't do anything for me.

And mostly they aren't any different than a standard model, without all the decorations.

But this one caught my eye.

Five inch 45 Colt Model 25s are far & few between but add the full-lug barrel, which from everything I see S&W has never done before or since in a M25, made this Colorado commemorative unique enough to buy.

And to boot, it's a good shooter.

The only commemorative gun I own is a 2.75" Ruger Speed Six discreetly inscribed "Made in the 200th Year of American Liberty"

Certainly not a limited edition, I think Ruger placed this on every gun made in 1976.

The revolver is among my favorites and the inscription doesn't bother me at all - make it very easy to remember how old it is.

I have one that I bought in 1985 (delivered in 1986), it's a TABC (Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission) 50th anniversary 1935-1985. It's a 686 with a stamped TX state seal, badge, or something on right side. Has the wooden box with the state seal and a TABC badge numbered to the revolver, 179-400. I paid $450 back then, which was high. I think only interest in something like this would be to a TABC agent or family member as I have not seen any around or for sale.

A neighbor in Switzerland invited us to see his firearms collection, which was varied and extensive.
Finally, he excitedly took out presentation cases of gold-plated engraved John Wayne commemoratives and paraphernalia. He was obviously a huge Duke fan, and cherished the six-gun, Winchester, and shotgun set.

John Wayne? Wasn't he some kind of TV Cowboy or something? By the way, if you're ever in Texas stop by and visit us.

They aren't for everyone the one pictured that I own is a Colt. I like it because it is a Colt but more important it shows some family history. Pete

Anyone else read true west magazine? They have a few com guns, but one stuck out, a quigley remake, no glitz just the gun kinda cool looking.
