Compact 2.0 9mm

Hello all,

Just picked my first M&P 9mm compact 4". Love it tried a few different ammo ran great. But I did run into an issue. When seating the mag with the slide forward it required a lot of force and would rebound back out and not seat. With the slide locked no issue at all. Is this normal does it take time to break in? This is my first brand new semi.

I have not noticed that mine has gotten any easier after over 2000 rounds. It may have a little bit but if so it isn't noticable. I just became used to slaming it home every time I instert a full magazine.

When you insert a loaded magazine with the slide forward, the top cartridge is pressed against the bottom of the slide and the magazine spring has to be compressed some in order for the magazine to seat. With the slide back, this resistance is not present.

You're going to love that gun it's my favorite and my EDC. The problem you mentioned isn't too bad on mine, but I also have a Compact .45 and it's really noticeable on that one.

It's been normal on mine; i never really paid much attn to it as the range i used to use required the slide to be back before starting anyway. It just became a habit so if I shoot elsewhere i tend to lock the slide back anyhow

God willing I will never need to do a defensive reload. Granted the exchange should not require that many rounds. do you have any reservation to carry?

Only had it a few days looking for a carry holster leaning towards the crossbreed Reckoning. This way I can use one holster for either IWB or OWB. Feels very natural in my hands.

If you ever have to do a defensive reload A. The Universe really doesn't like you and B. You will be so full of adrenalin you won't notice the resistance

Manufacturers are scraping for every way possible to reduce size so the mag is only just enough to seat fully loaded. This is true for many autos across the spectrum...not all but some. Old and new. I have gone to leaving those guns one short if it's really tough to seat the mag. Glocks and others have same issue on some of their guns.

I don't worry about a defensive reload since I don't even carry an extra mag. The way I see it if I'm in a situation where 15 rounds isn't enough chances are my goose is cooked any way you look at it.

I appendix carry my Compact and find it quite comfortable but opinions vary a lot on that subject.
