I was on the S&W website at Pistols | Smith & Wesson looking for a new gun. While there I noticed that under frame size there is now a selection for "Compact Slim". And under caliber you can select 10mm. In both cases no pistols show up.

So based on this flimsy excuse for evidence I am going to wish for a M&P compact slim 10mm. Something with a grip just long enough for most people to get three fingers on, a single stack magazine and a 4 +/- .5 inch barrel. Heavy enough to handle 10mm but significantly lighter than 1911 style 10mm pistols.

There is a rumor Glock is coming out with a pistol like this but it is also based on weak evidence. If either Glock or S&W makes a gun like this I am buying one.

I doubt that it's a Shield, they'd sooner make a full-size M&P10mm.

No, this is most likely a variant of the SW1911. Everyone is offering a 10mm 1911 these days, but few companies are offering Commander or Officer-size 1911s in 10mm, so Smith & Wesson is most likely attempting to enter the 10mm 1911 market in the most competitive way they can, by being the first American manufacturer to offer compact 10mm 1911s.

I would Happily buy Two single stack 10mm pistols with a 7 or 8 round capacity, they would have to be lighter than a commander size 10mm 1911 though. A 4 inch barrel M&P shield in 10mm would be just fine.
