I’ve been watching jerry miculek videos on YouTube lately. There is no doubt that he is amazing but my question is this. I’m sure they are shooting reduced loads. Does anyone know what load Jerry or any of the shooters use or at least the velocity they reload too. I’m assuming they are shooting 357 magnums that are reduced to 38 special velocities.

I’d assume it varies from video to video. Watch the one of him shooting 6 rounds of .44 Mag in one second. It’s pretty impressive and kind of funny. In order to to be able to shoot a gun like that you need the grip strength and forearms of a gorilla along with great technique.

That pretty much describes Jerry. :)

I doubt they care much about velocities very much. As long as the round operates the gun (if an auto) and is accurate, then it is good. In a revolver they all just need to go bang and score well.

Only when you shoot USPSA type competition is velocity important, as you must make a certain power factor for "major" and "minor". Otherwise usually loaded to whatever is most accurate.

It is known that he used the factory, Brazilian ammo, MAGTECH, for all his matches
in the old days.
I don't know what he uses now.

Thanks everyone for your responses.

Glen thanks for the link. It tells me what I wanted to know.

2.8 grains of Bullseye with either a HBWC or DEWC has been a standard load for more years than I can remember. Use it in both my 52-1 or my K Frame PPC every time I shoot them.

I’m not Jerry and I’m not shooting a revolver, but I definitely tune my loads for both USPSA and SCSA competitions. For Steel challenge in a comped semi auto right now I’m running a 65 grain 9 mm at 1600 fps (factory Norma) which is a 104 power factor (no minimum). On the other side I’m running 165 grain 9 mm at 8800-850 fps in USPSA for about a 128 PF (124 is the minimum).

Jim

He shoot factory ammo in his 500S&W video with a power factor over 600!!!
Nothing reduced there --300 grain bullet with a velocity of over 2000fps!!!
