Completing a Set

No pics to post yet - the guns in Maryland's 8-day handgun quarantine - but I just couldn't wait to tell about my new acquisition.

I love K-Frames, especially M-19s. The first K-Frame (and first revolver) I ever bought, just last year, was my 6" 19-4. Then I found a nice 4" 19-4. Finally, after a long search, I found a very nice 2 1/2" 19-3 at a gun show Saturday, went to the shop to see it again last night, and made the deal.

I'm sure a lot of you would say I paid too much - $750, no box, no papers, no tools. I don't care. These guns are rare around here at any price, and the dealer gave me more than I expected in trade for another gun I got tired of. I couldn't be happier.

Now I've got to find some nickel 19s.

I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who likes sets, and M19/66s. Nickel M19s are out there, it just takes time to find them.

I saw it at the Frederick show last weekend, but the gun's from The Gun Rack in Burtonsville. There are periodic shows elsewhere, including the Howard County Fairgrounds in West Friendship and the Timonium Fairgrounds. The Nation's Gunshow in Chantilly, held about every three months, is by far the biggest around, five times the size of any of the Maryland shows, but of course you've got to transfer via an FFL on any handgun transfer. The York and Gettysburg shows are also good.

If you go to the Maryland Shooters' website, mdshooters.com, there's a calendar of almost all upcoming shooting-related events in MD, and a forum devoted to gun shows. As a matter of fact, anyone in MD who's into the shooting sports or collecting ought to join MDS and its companion organization, MSI (Maryland Shall Issue). Together, they're the most effective voices for the shooting community in our once-Free State.

I saw a beautiful 4" 66 the same day, but had already made up my mind to go for the 19-3. I also saw an M-18 for not a terrible price. If I'd had enough money to go around, I'd have bought all three, but I've got Christmas presents to buy, and spent too much on EBRs before the Maryland ban went into effect last month.

I don't know much about m19s. Out of curiosity how hard are the nickel m19s to find? 6" more difficult than 4" or 2 1/2"? What kind of premium do they bring vs. blued?

To the OP.... You have a beautiful start! Price doesn't matter to me as long as you LOVE it. Enjoy the hunt for the next 1!
