Ok, got a question for you computer guys. Yesterday, everything was working fine, today, I cannot upload info to Photobucet, and now I cannot go to places like Youtube and watch any videos. What comes up is just a white area with the description (title what have you) of what I am supposed to be looking at, but nothing comes up. However, I have some videos saved to my desktop, I can watch those fine. I did a systems test ( I have Ubuntu 8.04) and the video for that came up find. Like I said, yesterday it all worked fine. And for some reason I can still go to gunblast and watch the videos there as well, but Youtube and Photobucket won't work. Go figure.

Don't know what happened, but you can fix it by turning the clock back to yesterday, or day before:

Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.

Hope this helps.

1. Do you have a hardware firewall/router?
2. Are you running a software firewall (squid?)?

If you have a hardware firewall/router, turn off your software firewall. You don't need it, unless you're extraordinarily paranoid. If those sites then work, you've solved your problem.

At one point, half of my consulting income came from customers with improperly configured software firewalls.

If I had Windows, I would just do a system restore, not sure how to do it with Ubuntu.

Reboot.

Seriously, the majority of computer problems are fixed by turning it off for 30 sec. and turning it back on.

What, 4 responses and nobody has told you to go buy a Mac?

Sorry, can't help you with an Ubuntu specific question. I take it you're using Firefox? Did you try loading the latest Flash plug-in? Did you recently update a plug-in that may be causing the problem?
