Hey folks, I know it's taboo to reveal the city you live in on the internet, but there's close to 1.5 million people who live in and around Cincinnati, so I guess I'm not at too much risk. And with that many people, I would hope some are on this forum.

Anyway, I was hoping someone might chime in with some recommendations for a concealed carry class in my area. The google results I'm getting are all pointing to places I'd rather not go or I know nothing about.

And in case anyone is worried about revealing your location, maybe you "used to live here" :-)

I never considered not telling where I live..... Food for thought I guess. ;)

I wonder if some kid could find your computer addy by your post, find the server that links to you, see your info on that server, match that info to any online pictures you have posted, get the GPS data encrypted in those pictures, then use Google Streetview to case your house.

For classes, Massad travels and offers classes, maybe check out his website. Or call the NRA and ask for locations near you. Many of the big name gun stores also hold regular classes. I'd ask around, maybe even ask your local police department.

Hi Lost Lake. Yeah, I try to keep a low profile on the internet. But if someone wants to find me they can. Hopefully, they're not stupid enough to break into my house because I'm no high-roller. And hopefully their not stupid enough to do it when I'm home.

My job involves a lot of web stuff, so I know it's possible, but it's a calculated risk. If I lived in a really small town, I'd be more cautious.

In Ohio, you have to take a class to concealed carry, and that's specifically what I'm asked about. The classes have to be approved by... well, I don't know... the state, I assume. I've actually sat in on them before. The big local gun shop around here is not great. And they've become far to busy over the last five years. They have long waiting lists for all their classes. They should open a second store in another part of town.

As for the NRA, like I said, I'm not sure if what they offer qualifies as the official class for Ohio CCW.

Being in Cincinnati, I don't even shoot at ranges here. I go over to Kentucky.

I'll contact the police if I need to. I just wasn't sure if anyone here had specific suggestions. It's not hard to find classes, but I'd like to go somewhere where I'll actually learn something and not have a two hour conversation about gun parts and calibers.

Look for an NRA Instructor teaching an NRA BASIC PISTOL class, that certificate will qualify for CCW paperwork.

NRA website has lists of instructors and classes in you area.

You might Google,

BUCKEYE FIREARMS ASSOCIATION and look at their listings of instructors in different counties.:)

try Great Oaks Joint Vocational near I75 15 miles north of Cincinnati

TDI has some great classes out in Clermont County easier was to find someone close is checking out the instructors on Buckeye Firearms. All instructors have to meet the state minimum requires to certify but ask questions on their qualifications and how they run their class.

I heard about one guy who teach 70-80 people by himself. In a class like that you might meet the minimum but won't get much or any personal attention to your shooting needs. If he had additional people helping him that could be one thing but be careful of large classes done by one instructor.
